Kingdom Hearts is a series of action role-playing games created by Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto and Tetsuya Nomura. The series includes characters from Disney movies, Final Fantasy games, as well as original characters. The series has seen great success since the release of Kingdom Hearts on the Playstation 2 in March 2002, with 10 games released in total across multiple consoles, with over 30 million games sold worldwide across the series. It is a very popular series with many products like funko pop, figures, Nendoroids, and not just games. Many fans enjoy the Kingdom Hearts merchandise to support their favorite characters and creators.

The original game follows the adventures of Sora, a young boy whose peaceful life on an island is thrown into torment by the Heartless: monsters created from the darkness within people’s hearts. He soon discovers that he has been chosen by the keyblade, a large key-shaped weapon that allows the wielder to rescue worlds from the heartless. After teaming up with Donald Duck and Goofy, he begins his journey to various Disney worlds to find his friends Riku and Kairi, while also saving these worlds from the ever-looming threat of the Heartless.

The series has also been adapted into manga and light novel series, the manga is written and illustrated by Shiro Amano and was serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Shōnen Gangan in 2003. The manga has covered the events of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2. The light novel series is written by Tomoco Kanemaki and illustrated by Shiro Amano. The light novel covers the events of the first three games in the series.

#965 Sora

Sora is the protagonist of the Kingdom Hearts series. As the wielder of the Keyblade, Sora is tasked with saving worlds from the threat of the heartless. When he was young, he and his friends always dreamed about leaving his small village and venturing out into the unknown. He is a very brave character who doesn’t hesitate to risk his own life to protect his friends and even for people he doesn't know. Sora is a very loyal friend and quick to forgive even those people who used to be his enemy. This figure features Sora in his outfit from Kingdom Hearts.

The Sora figure includes three different face plates; a smiling expression, a serious expression, and a sleeping expression. The figure also includes a ‘Kingdom Key’ keyblade part, a ‘Pumpkinhead’ keyblade part, a Paopu fruit part that he can hold in his hand, and an effect part that allows the figure to go airborne, reenacting Kingdom Hearts ‘unlocking’ scene. Thanks to the alternate hand parts he is able to hold his weapons and display cool scenes from the series.

Riku is Sora's best friend and rival. They are childhood friends who grew up on the same island and both held the same dream of leaving their birthplace to go on a journey into the unknown. Like Sora, Riku is also a very brave character who refuses to feel fear which is highlighted by his famous phrase “I’m not afraid of the darkness!” as he walks into the dark portal. Although they are similar, Riku is calmer and collected. When he starts to get affected by the darkness he gradually becomes jealous of Sora with many negative emotions increasing. Although he was supposed to be the original wielder of the Keyblade, he succumbed to the darkness within. This figure features Riku in his outfit from Kingdom Hearts.

The Nendoroid Riku figure includes two different face plates; a calm smiling expression, and a confident smiling expression. The figure also comes in a set with an optional part for Riku’s ‘Soul Eater’ sword, an ‘Oblivion’ keyblade part, and two wooden sword parts intended to have him and the Nendoroid #965 Sora to have a friendly sparring bout from the game's tutorial. The alternate hand parts allow him to wield the various weapons for action-filled poses.

In the world of Kingdom Hearts, Mickey Mouse is the king of Disney Castle, as well as an accomplished Keyblade wielder. King Mickey uses the dark version of the regular Kingdom Key, known as the Kingdom Key D. This figure features King Mickey in his outfit from Kingdom Hearts II.
