About Marth

Marth is the Prince of Altea, and at the start of “Mystery of the Emblem,” he is forced into exile when the Kingdom of Gra attacks his country. He must then fight to defeat Medeus and Gharnef to regain control of his country.

About Marth: Background

Marth is the son of Cornelius and Liza and has an elder sister Elice. He is a very kindhearted, charismatic, but idealistic leader. He will push aside his feelings and is willing to do anything to protect his country. While he does not like bloodshed personally, he is ready to fight against his enemies till his dying breath, if it means it will protect his people. His idealistic nature results from seeing his elder sister and Frey sacrificing themselves for his safety. Due to this incident, he aspires to avoid bloodshed and make sure that as many if not all of his men can survive.

His charismatic nature allows people from different places to come and support him. Creating an extensive support network that helps him win the war. Most people deem him a worthy leader, and his leadership assures trust. However, his kind heart is occasionally taken advantage of, and we see he has been betrayed and almost assassinated by comrades before.

About Character: Abilities

In “Mystery of the Emblem,” his starting weapon is the rapier. The rapier has a decent hit while still being effective against knights and cavaliers. He can also grow in strength very quickly due to his low bases at the start. The initial low bases allow for growths to kick in. Later in the game, he gains access to the weapons Falchion and Mercurius. The Falchion is infinitely durable and can inflict damage of 10, and has a weight of 3. The Mercurius can inflict damage of 18 with only a weight of 1.

Another unique feature of Marth is his lord class. Being in the lord class means that he is more effective for warp strategies and is able to seize the thrones and kill bosses without assistance. In addition, due to his class, he is the only character that is able to visit villages and recruit units.

Other Important Fire Emblem Characters

The other characters in Fire Emblem are significant as, without them, Marth would not be able to advance and regain control of his country. In particular, we see critical interactions between Marth and Caeda, Elice and Medeus.

Caeda

Caeda is an outgoing, friendly but fierce and confident princess. She is on multiple times noted for her intelligence and charisma, making her an outstanding diplomat. She constantly helps Marth out and uses her charm to reach different people and persuades them to support Marth and his army. Caeda and Marth have a very close bond and are very protective of Marth. This is why she constantly helps him out, leading to her enlisting in his army to fight alongside him.

Elice

Elice is Marth’s older sister. She is a calm person who is very protective of her family. In times of stress, she is quiet and is able to analyze the situation calmly. She realizes that Marth is the only one who could defeat Medius and stays in Altea, so Marth is able to escape, risking her safety. This sacrifice ultimately leads to Marth’s ideology to leave no one behind and sacrifice no one. During “Mystery of Emblem,” she also offers herself as a hostage to allow Caeda to escape and join Marth.

Medeus

Medeus is, also known as the Shadow Dragon, is Marth’s enemy. He founded the Dolhr Empire and has overwhelming hatred for humanity. His hate for humanity stems from watching his fellow Manaketes being hunted by humans. His hatred peaks and leads to him founding the Dolhr Empire and declaring war on the Archanea. Marth is noted to be the only person who could potentially defeat Medeus.
