About Red Blood Cell: Background
Red Blood Cell, also known as AE3803, is a new red blood cell, who has just started working. She is a cheerful girl who is very hard-working and dedicated to her job. She is always willing to help out those who need it. However, she is also clumsy and lacks a sense of direction. This leads to her getting lost when she delivers oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nutrients throughout the body and leads her to encounter dangerous and unexpected situations.
She was very clumsy and often teased by her peers as a child. When she was young, she accidentally got lost and encountered a bacterium. However, she was unable to defend herself and ended up being protected by a myelocyte (White Blood Cell, U-1146). The two meet for the first time and promise to reunite when they are older.
About Red Blood Cell: Abilities
As she is a red blood cell, her job is to deliver goods around the body; because of this, she is unable to protect herself. While she may be unable to defend herself, she can transport goods around the body at a very high pace and fit through most spaces to deliver the goods. Red Blood Cells also wear a reversible jacket that signals the speed they are moving.

Cells at Work are known for the cute and different characters surrounding Red Blood Cell. Due to Red Blood Cell’s clumsy nature, we see her enlisting the help of her friends. In particular, we see White Blood Cell, Senior Red Blood Cell, and Platelet appear to help her out. White Blood Cell
White Blood Cell U-1146 is a neutrophil that is in charge of killing pathogens that infect the body. Contrary to his aggressive job, he is a gentle person and is a friend of Red Blood Cell. They initially met when they were younger when Red Blood Cell encountered a bacterium, and White Blood Cell helps her. Afterward, they promise to reunite; however, he does not seem to recognize her after reuniting with her. They reunite again when White Blood Cell saves Red Blood Cell from being attacked by a bacterium again. His kindhearted nature is often seen when he lends a helping hand to the clumsy Red Blood Cell. Out of worry, he occasionally follows her to make sure she does not end up lost or in trouble.
Senior Red Blood Cell
Senior Red Blood Cell (AA5100) is one of Red Blood Cell’s friends. She is very kind and supportive of the juniors she must look after. Being an older red blood cell means she has much more experience than Red Blood Cell and often helps and guides Red Blood Cell when confused or lost. However, despite receiving help from Senior Red Blood Cell, Red Blood Cell still ends up lost and occasionally has trouble performing her job.
Platelet
Platelet is a small cell and is the leader of the Platelet Division. She is responsible for repairing injuries and forming blood cuts in the body. She is polite but adorable, making her lovable by all the other cells. In particular, we see Red Blood Cell coddling her and enjoying her cuteness, which Platelet seems to enjoy.
Killer T Cell
Killer T Cell is also a white blood cell (a Cytotoxic T Cell) and works under the Killer T Division. His job is to kill foreign matter and damaged or infected cells. He has a very aggressive personality and looks down on white blood cells forming relationships with non-white blood cells. This is why he disapproves of White Blood Cell’s friendship with Red Blood Cell.
