Makomo Demon Slayer - Nendoroid

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) is a widely popular series and the anime was released on the 6th of April, 2019. It has grown into a large global franchise with even a movie being released. Demon Slayer is about olden day Japan where demons roam around at night killing and eating humans. To fight against the demons a demon slayer corps has been formed. To join the corps, people have to be trained in the art of sword fighting. One of the popular characters from the series is Makomo. She is a mysterious character that appears to help the protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado in his training. Makomo is quite a popular character despite her short appearance due to her kind yet mysterious nature. With this, there have been a number of products made of her design. One of the popular products released is the Makomo Nendoroid called the “Nendoroid Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Makomo”.

Nendoroid Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Makomo

Enjoy the cute figure of Makomo as a Nendoroid. Just like the series she wears a pink kimono with a lighter pink flower pattern. On top of the kimono, she wears a dark purple sleeveless haori that is fastened together by a brown obi around her waist. For her shoes, she wears brown sandals that are tied together around her ankles and the toes are covered. Her black hair comes below her shoulders and has been sculpted to be just like the series showing the spikes and flicks of her hairstyle. The Makomo Nendoroid also comes with two different facial expressions. The first expression shows Makomo with a happy face. Her blue eyes are bright and big showing off her cute vibes and her mouth is pulled into a soft gentle smile. This expression shows Makomo's gentle and kind nature and is great to display. The second expression shows Makomo in a thinking or sad expression. Her usually large doe eyes are slightly closed and her mouth is in a straight line. This expression gives off the vibe that she is either thinking deeply or is in a sorrowful mood conveying the mood of Demon Slayer perfectly. The Makomo Nendoroid also comes with various optional features. There is a large flower crown made with white flowers that can be placed on her head and a smaller version that she is able to hold in her hands. Of course, she also comes with the signature fox mask that was given to her by her master Sakonji Urokodaki. The small white fox mask has been painted with a smiling face and has two blue flowers painted on the side of its cheek to recreate the fox mask in the series. The mask is able to be placed on the side of Makomo's head to make the figure come to life and pose just like the series shows.

About Makomo

Makomo only appears for a short time throughout the series but she plays an important role in teaching Tanjiro the proper way of using the water breathing techniques. She appears as a very mysterious character and gently guides Tanjiro through the techniques. She also dearly loves their master, Sakonji Urokodaki, and speaks very fondly about him.

About Makomo: Background

Makomo was a young orphaned girl that was adopted by Sakonji Urokodaki and was then trained to become a demon slayer. She loved her master very much and wanted to make him proud but in the final selection test to become an official demon slayer, she was killed by a demon that Sakonji had trapped into the area. She was overcome with grief that she wasn’t able to relieve her master’s suffering that her soul returned to Sagiri mountain where Sakonji lived but never made contact with her master and only appeared when Tanjiro needed help.

About Makomo: Abilities

Makomo had completed the same training Tanjiro had accomplished and gained Sakonji’s permission to enter the final selection. She was able to use the water breathing technique but unfortunately, she was killed by a powerful demon in the final selection who had commented that she was quite agile.

Other Important Demon Slayer Characters

Makomo only appears shortly but is only seen with Sabito and Tanjiro Kamado. She and Sabito both work together to teach Tanjiro how to master water breathing techniques.

Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro Kamado is the main character and is greatly helped by Makomo. Tanjiro was still learning the water breathing techniques and didn’t understand how to properly see and breathe and become just like water. He only repeated the training he had done without understanding. However, Makomo kindly and gently guided Tanjiro on his mistakes and any bad habits he had acquired while he was training. He thought of Makomo as a mysterious figure who was very vague about her past but always stated how much she loved their master.

Sabito

Sabito, together with Makomo trained Tanjiro on how to use the water breathing techniques. In contrast to Makomo’s gentle teaching, Sabito was quite aggressive and harsh. While Makomo guided Tanjiro on his training, Sabito mostly gave Tanjiro real combat practice. He was someone who acted as a wall that Tanjiro needed to overcome in order to become stronger.
