Kei Tsukishima Haikyu!! - Nendoroid

The sports manga Haikyu!! earned its widespread popularity through its widely developed cast of characters. Karasuno, the main team, showcases the incoming first year players more than any other. Aside from the series protagonists, middle blocker Kei Tsukishima won over fans with his sardonic personality. As he developed his volleyball skills, Tsukishima also gained an impressive story arc across the second and third seasons. Karasuno's snarky middle blocker earned a re-run of his wildly popular Nendoroid figure debut. Tsukishima wears his standard black Karasuno uniform, complete with knee pads and his green accented volleyball shoes. The figure includes both his regular and sports glasses to depict both of his second season appearances. Three faceplates capture his personality: a neutral smirk, focused glare, and taunting smile. Interchangeable arm parts allow fans to pose Tsukishima in a run-up and in the middle of a block. His trademark headphones and a volleyball round out the figure accessories.

About Kei Tsukishima

Kei Tsukishima is a first year at Karasuno High School and a starting player on the volleyball team. Due to his height, Tsukishima is a middle blocker. Seemingly apathetic about volleyball, Tsukishima grows as a player, discovering his own passion and drive to succeed.

About Kei Tsukishima: Background

Tsukishima is blunt, sarcastic, and sometimes antagonistic. He often mocks his teammates, particularly Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama. When other characters do something he considers stupid, Tsukishima is quick to taunt them in the background. While he tries to act like he doesn't care about volleyball, Tsukishima actively distances himself from the sport to avoid embarrassment.

As a child, Tsukishima idolized his older brother, Akiteru. Akiteru attended Karasuno during the peak of the volleyball team's reign as a powerhouse team. As a result, he never saw time on the court but hid this from his younger brother. After discovering his brother's lies, Tsukishima became disillusioned with the idea of hard work and passion. His time playing volleyball in high school reignites his childhood passion and he starts to forgive and understand Akiteru's actions.

About Kei Tsukishima: Abilities

Tsukishima's initial volleyball abilities came from his height. At 188cm tall, Tsukishima's jump easily reaches over the net, giving him an advantage when blocking. His calm and analytical nature makes him the main cornerstone of Karasuno's blocks. After the Tokyo training camps, Tsukishima refined his ability to read spikers before an attack. As a result, he often sets the timing for Karasuno's blocks.

Tsukishima also shows promise as an offensive player. As a middle blocker, he can execute quick attacks when necessary. He struggles with quick attacks at first due to his tense relationship with Kageyama. However, by Nationals, Tsukishima can use feints, delayed time quick attacks, and spikes from above a three-person block.

Tsukishima's first major turning point occurs during the Tokyo training camp sessions. Here his relationship with Yamaguchi deepens and he becomes an unwilling student to Nekoma's Tetsuro Kuroo.

Tadashi Yamaguchi

Tadashi Yamaguchi is a first year at Karasuno High School and a non-starting member of the volleyball team. He has been friends with Tsukishima since elementary school. Yamaguchi struggles with being the only non-starting member of the first year students. His insecurity and Tsukishima's forced indifference causes a rift between the two.

Tsukishima sometimes seems annoyed with Yamaguchi's constant support and praise. However, as Yamaguchi pushes himself to develop as a player, Tsukishima shows his support in his own way. After Yamaguchi serves get returned in a match, Tsukishima follows through with an aggressive shut out block. This leads to their effective serve and block offensive combination.

Tetsuro Kuroo

Tetsuro Kuroo is a third year at Nekoma High School and the volleyball team captain. He plays as a middle blocker and specializes in read blocking. His cunning and perceptive nature makes him skilled at blocking and reading people.

Kuroo notices Tsukishima's untapped potential during the summer Tokyo training camp. He goads Tsukishima into extra practice against players from powerhouse school Fukurodani Academy. During these sessions, Kuroo teaches Tsukishima proper blocking form and tips on read blocking. He enjoys his role as Tsukishima's mentor, especially given Tsukishima's annoyance with him.
