Karasuno's guardian deity looks even cooler in his new Karasuno uniform in this figure from Good Smile Company. Nishinoya wears a black jersey in contrast with the rest of the team's orange away uniforms. The three faceplates show his confident smile, focused glare, and his impassioned, closed-eye expression. Yu Nishinoya is a second year at Karasuno High School and the volleyball team's libero. Nishinoya is loud, over-the-top, yet extremely skilled in defensive plays. His teammates call him "Karasuno's Guardian Deity".

Nishinoya is energetic and bold, often accidentally causing public scenes. Despite his loud personality, Nishinoya grows very quiet and focused when playing volleyball. He takes his responsibility as the defensive cornerstone seriously. His dependable nature underscores his humble approach to his skills. Nishinoya is hardworking and believes he has a lot of room to improve as a libero.

As a child, Nishinoya was timid and easily frightened. His grandfather pushed him to overcome his many fears, telling him that fear prevents one from experiencing life. Nishinoya took that wisdom to heart and vowed to approach all challenges head-on.

Nishinoya is regarded as one of the best liberos in the series. Before attending Karasuno, Nishinoya played for Chidoriyama Junior High where he won the best libero award his final year. However, Nishinoya downplays his immense talent and tends to look for areas to improve.

One of Nishinoya's greatest strengths is his quick thinking. He uses unorthodox methods, like using his leg to receive the ball when he can't get into the receiving position. Nishinoya also worked on his setting technique to give the team more flexibility in their attacks. One of Nishinoya's defining habits is his tendency to name his plays like anime attacks, such as his "Rolling Thunder" rolling receive.

Ryunosuke Tanaka

Ryunosuke Tanaka is a second year at Karasuno High School. He is one of the regular wing spikers on the volleyball team and considers himself the team's next ace. Tanaka acknowledges his average abilities in comparison to the genius-level players on the team. His greatest asset is his mental strength and ability to persevere during difficult matches.

Tanaka and Nishinoya are best friends. They feed off each other's high energy, especially regarding girls and the team manager, Shimizu Kiyoko.

Chikara Ennoshita

Chikara Ennoshita is a second year at Karasuno High School and member of the volleyball team. While he isn't a starting member, Ennoshita is considered the de facto leader of the second years. He is responsible and quiet but lacks confidence. His ability to rein in Tanaka, Nishinoya, and the first years makes him the top candidate for captain his third year.

Ennoshita shows a bolder, more commanding personality with Nishinoya and the other second years. As a result, Nishinoya is the first one to suggest Ennoshita for the next captain.
