Haikyu!! became an international hit with a widely beloved cast. One of the most popular characters is the Tokyo rival ace, Kotaro Bokuto. Bokuto won fans over with his big personality, childlike disposition, and friendly relationships with the main cast. Bokuto is loud, playful, and friendly. His boisterous personality also lends to his wild mood swings. When discouraged or when he overthinks, Bokuto can enter what his teammates call his "dejected mode". During this time, his teammates continue to play until Bokuto's mental strength returns.

As the ace of a powerhouse school, Bokuto possesses a lot of pride. His strength and ability to boost anyone's spirit both inspires and frightens his teammates and opponents. His boundless energy also tires out most of his practice partners.

About Kotaro Bokuto: Abilities

As one of the top aces in the country, Bokuto possesses great athletic ability and volleyball skill. While known for his height and strength, Bokuto's greatest skill is his precision. Prior to the series, Bokuto specialized in cross spikes, but they started getting blocked. He practiced straight spikes until he could get around almost any block. Bokuto also knows when to reset the ball by performing a rebound, a skill he teaches Hinata.

Bokuto also has a dangerous and powerful jump serve. His control over the serve allows him to target certain players and areas of the court.

Bokuto is the central figure of the Fukurodani volleyball team. He and Keiji Akaashi together teach several of the Karasuno players vital techniques for their journey to Nationals.

Keiji Akaashi

Keiji Akaashi is a second year at Fukurodani Academy and the volleyball team's official setter. He is usually calm and collected, using his observational skills to make decisions. His technical skills are impressive, but his greatest asset is his ability to handle Bokuto.

Akaashi decided to pursue volleyball more seriously after seeing Bokuto in a match in middle school. He instantly saw Bokuto's star potential. After meeting Bokuto, he learned about the ace's fragile emotions and child-like demeanor. As a result, Akaashi started keeping a list of Bokuto's weaknesses and developed countermeasures for his mood swings.

Fukurodani Academy

Fukurodani Academy is a private high school in Haikyu!! located in Tokyo. The volleyball team is considered one of the top four in Japan and regularly competes in national tournaments. Fukurodani Academy is also a member of the Fukurodani Group. The group consists of four schools in the greater Tokyo area that hold regular volleyball training camps together. During Bokuto's third year, Karasuno received an invitation to the Fukurodani Group camps due to their renewed rivalry with Nekoma High School.
