Haikyuu!! T-Shirt - Merchandise

Haikyuu!! is a popular shonen sports manga and anime series that is written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. The first season of the anime aired in 2014 and has an additional three seasons that aired in the following years, with the most recent season airing in January 2020. The manga has been published in English by both Viz Media in 2016 and later by the original Japanese publisher, Shueisha, on digital platforms beginning in 2019. To date, the series has over 35 million copies in circulation worldwide.

The popularity of the series has led to an incredible amount of merchandise based on its characters to be released. Although items like figures are rather popular among fans, other types of merchandise like phone straps, posters, and apparel perform well also. The following items are examples of popular t-shirts with designs based on the Haikyuu!! series: the Haikyuu!! Karasuno #4 Uniform, the Haikyuu!! Shoyo Hinata Juniors’ Sublimation T-shirt, and the Haikyuu!! Aobajosai #1 Uniform.

Haikyuu!! Karasuno #4 Uniform

This real life replica of Karasuno High’s orange and black volleyball uniform comes in several different sizes: S, M, L, and XL. It consists of a pair of orange shorts with wide black stripes on both sides and a matching shirt with the number “4” printed on it, noting that this particular uniform belongs to Karasuno’s Libero, Yuu Nishinoya. This uniform is also an inverted version of the standard Karasuno uniform, a common trait shared by most Libero uniforms. The name of the school is printed on the left side of the shirt in kanji, while the right side has the fictional sports brand “ICS” printed on it. Although it is perfect to keep as a display, it is also great for wearing, as it is made with a durable polyester that is well-suited for sports.

Haikyuu!! Shoyo Hinata Juniors’ Sublimation T-shirt

This white Haikyuu!! t-shirt features art of Hinata Shoyo as he jumps into the air and is about to attempt a spike to score a point. On the left side, the design features the official logo of the Haikyuu!! series, which uses a stylized black font with an orange outline and a volleyball in place of the dot of the “i”. The shirt comes in three different sizes: M, L, and XL. It is also made with a blend of 95% polyester and 5% spandex, which means it is a comfortable t-shirt made to be used for all sorts of occasions. The shirt is also unisex, allowing it to be worn by nearly any fan.

Haikyuu!! Aobajosai #1 Uniform

This azure blue and white uniform is a replica of the Aobajosai High’s volleyball uniform. It consists of a pair of shorts and a t-shirt with a collar on it. Right in the center of the shirt, the number “1” is printed, making it the uniform of Aobajosai’s captain and setter, Tooru Oikawa. On the right side of the shirt, the logo for the fictional sports brand “ICS” can be found, while the name of the high school can be found on the back of the shirt. The uniform also comes in four different sizes: S, M, L, and XL. The 100% polyester uniform is also rather durable, making it a great for both displaying on one’s collection and wearing as a cosplay costume or sports outfit.

Karasuno and Aobajosai teams

Karasuno High’s volleyball club is made up of twelve members. It used to be a prominent volleyball team several years ago when the legendary “Tiny Giant” played on the team, but has since fallen from grace after he left the school. As such, the team has been called “the Fallen Champions” and “the Flightless Crows”. Their official slogan is “Take to the skies!”, which refers to the name of their high school, as “karasu” is the Japanese word for crow. Karasuno also has a long-standing rivalry with Nekoma High School, which happens to also refer to another animal, cats. When these two teams play against each other, their matches are referred to as the “Battle at the Garbage Dump”, invoking the image of a crow and a stray cat fighting over food scraps.

Aobajosai’s volleyball team is led by its captain-setter Tooru Oikawa, who holds a grudge against Karasuno’s Tobio Kageyama, as his natural talent overshadowed Oikawa’s during middle school. This team is considered to be one of the best in the prefecture, as they are consistently ranked in the top four in tournaments. Oikawa is often credited for this success due to his incredible ability to read into the psyche of each team member to help facilitate their growth and keep them in peak performance. After graduating, Oikawa went on to become a professional volleyball player for Argentine’s “Club Atlético San Juan”. He is considered to be one of the most well-rounded players in the series, as his solo training sessions give him an advantage over most other players. His attitude toward Tobio Kageyama (whom he casually calls Tobio-chan) also places him as one of the most popular characters in Haikyuu!!.
