Evangelion is an anime series that originally aired in October 1995 and quickly became a classic that is still enjoyed by old and new fans alike. Though the series originally aired in 1995, the ongoing Rebuild of Evangelion movie series and its recent addition to Netflix has helped re-kindle discussions about the franchise among the anime community. The design is based on the 10th Angel that appears in the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series, Zeruel. The word “REJECT” is written across the chest area on the front of the shirt in a clean, capitalized font and light gray text. Furthermore, the “T” is stylized as a Christian cross that is tilted slightly to the side, alluding to the many religious references found throughout the series. One particularly noteworthy feature of this hoodie is that the zipper can go past the neck where most hoodies stop. The zipper can go all the way to the top of the hood. When zipped all the way up, the hood reveals the unnerving face of Zeruel. This unusual feature is not designed to be see-through, so it is highly recommended that users not walk around with the zipper fully up.

Evangelion Apostle Flower Pattern Black Pullover Hoodie
This hoodie is also made by COSPA, but is released under their Nijigen COSPA brand. The design itself is mainly solid black, but on the center of the chest, there is a mask inspired by the first Angel that appears in the series, Sachiel. The mask itself is made of a collage of various kinds of flowers and spiral patterns that are colored in black and white. This monotone color palette creates a stark contrast between the base black color and the intricate details of the white mask, resulting in a satisfying design. The hoodie also includes a large hood and drawstring to keep its user’s head out of the wind during the colder days. Its kangaroo-style pocket will also keep one’s hands nice and warm while simultaneously providing a large amount of space to keep handheld possessions. Radio Eva 395 The Beast Black x Orange Hoodie β
This hoodie by Radio Eva is one of many variants of their “The Beast” hoodies. While other colors like gray, navy blue, and oatmeal are also available this hoodie features black as a main color while the text is colored with orange. The design itself includes the phrase “The Beast”, which is a reference to a previously unseen mode that an Evangelion Unit can use in the second Rebuild of Evangelion film. The text here (with the exception of the studio khara copyright text) seems to take a large amount of inspiration from The Beatles’ iconic logo. The “B” and “T” in “Beast” extend well past the other letters and the entire phrase is written in a similar serif font. One difference between this design and the original, however, is that “The Beast” is mirrored, causing it to be read from right to left. The design of this hoodie may be rather simple, but it is a great way to show off one’s love for the series in a rather subtle way.

Neon Genesis Evangelion began as a TV series that quickly gained enough popularity to have several movies created after its initial release. Many fans adore the series for its characters, interesting mecha and Angel designs, and its unusual method of storytelling, especially toward the end of the series.
