About Studio Ghibli

Studio Ghibli is a Japanese anime studio that was founded in 1985. The anime studio has formed multiple partnerships with broadcasting companies worldwide and its films have been nominated for several Academy Awards. Since the studio's founding, the 1986 film Castle in the Sky, which was written by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Isao Takahata, has garnered a worldwide fanbase, just as their household films "Ponyo" and "My Neighbor Totoro" have. Hayao Miyazaki is often seen as the main force behind most of the studio's major successes. In January 2020, Netflix gained rights to all but one of the studio's catalog outside the United States, Canada, and Japan, which further shows just how in-demand the studio's films are. In Mitaka city of Tokyo, there is a Ghibli Museum, which is popular with visitors all around Japan and overseas. Visitors need to reserve tickets in order to enter and, since the location is very popular, it requires reserving three months in advance.
