About Doctor Strange

After a car crash that ends his neurosurgeon career, Doctor Strange becomes a Master of the Mystic Arts and uses his powers to help protect Earth.

About Doctor Strange : Background

Stephen Strange was initially a talented neurosurgeon. However, he is involved in a car crash which leaves his hand unusable. This leads to his journey into Kamar-Taj, where he discovers the concept of magic and alternate dimensions.

He was very stubborn and arrogant before the life-altering car crash. Before the accident, he would only take on surgeries that would benefit his status and refuse to help those who would not benefit him. Despite this, there are also multiple occasions where he refuses to give up on patients and becomes determined to save patients that others deem dead. Most of his arrogance disappears after his training with the Ancient One.

About Doctor Strange: Abilities

Doctor Strange’s most notable ability is his mastery of the Mystic Arts and his genius-level intellect. Formerly, he was the Sorcerer Supreme and Master of the New York Sanctum. He has a strong affinity for the Mystic Arts, and despite his initial inexperience, he impressed both Karl Mordo and Wong with his abilities. After the death of the Ancient One, he is thought to be the strongest member of the Mystic Arts alive. One of the iconic spells we see Strange use is his Eldritch Magic Manipulation, where he can create tangible items using energy. He uses this ability to create weapons and shields in battle. Another iconic spell is his Portal Creation. This spell allows him to open portals leading to desired locations, including the material world and parts of the multiverse.

Equipped with a photographic memory, Strange can recall everything in accurate detail. This ability helped him while studying and is why he was able to obtain both MD and Ph.D. This later led to him becoming a world-renowned neurosurgeon. His genius-level intellect is seen again when he studies the Mystic Arts and enters the Astral Dimension after minimal experience. He was also able to learn about the Dormammu and the Dark Dimension after seeing the missing pages of the Book of Cagliostro for a mere 15 seconds.

Other Important Marvel Comics Characters

Throughout the different series, Doctor Strange has overcome obstacles with the help of allies and close friends. They play an essential part in Strange being the Master of Mystic Arts and defeating the enemies out to destroy Earth.

Iron Man/Tony Stark

Iron Man and Strange meet in Infinity War when he opens a portal to Tony and Pepper asking for Tony’s aide. The two have similar personalities, both having arrogant attitudes, which rub each other the wrong way. Due to the similarities, the two dislike each other and often find different approaches to solve problems. This leads to the countless arguments the two have. However, despite their differences, the two seem to develop mutual respect, with each trusting each other's words and relying on each other to defeat Thanos.

Wong

Wong is Strange’s friend and fellow sorcerer, the current Supreme Sorcerer. Wong and Strange first meet when Strange is on his journey to healing his hands and learning the Mystic Arts. The two have a strong friendship and are seen constantly together. Wong aids Doctor Strange in the final battle against Thanos and brings along as many sorcerers as possible from the Hong Kong Sanctum and Kamar-Taj. The two also attend Tony Stark’s funeral and watch the procession together.
