Reg Made in Abyss - Nendoroid
The Made in Abyss franchise first began as a dark fantasy and adventure manga written by Akihito Tsukushi and published in 2012. After the manga's serialization, the series quickly grew in popularity due to its fascinating, mysterious world and deceptively cute character design. This popularity grew even more after the manga received an anime adaptation by Kinema Citrus in 2017. Shortly following the anime series, a wide range of merchandise was announced, with one of the most desired being collectible figures of its main characters. Out of the cast of characters in Made in Abyss, Reg is one of the most notable, as his mysterious background and desire to see Riko's dreams come true make him very endearing to fans. As such, like with several other characters from Made in Abyss, a Nendoroid titled the "Nendoroid Made in Abyss Reg" was released by Good Smile Company in 2019.
Nendoroid Made in Abyss Reg
This adorable Nendoroid of Reg takes the already chibi style of most characters of the series and turns him into a wonderful figure with plenty of options when it comes to customizability. It has him in his usual outfit, which consists of his horned helmet, lavender and teal bottoms, and tattered red cape. Additional parts included in this set are arm pieces that have his robotic hand extended, an incinerator effect piece, and three different face plates. These face plates allow the owner of this figure to switch Reg's expression from a happy smile to a cold stare, to an embarrassed glance. Reg's helmet and cape can also be removed, adding even more possibilities when it comes to poses.

About Reg
Reg is a character with largely unknown origins but is a major character in Made in Abyss, as he is the first companion Riko gains on her journey down the Abyss.
About Reg: Backstory
Although Reg's history is largely unknown due to Reg having total amnesia, characters like Riko speculate that he is from the bottom of the Abyss. The reason for this is that he shares some aspects of a sketch found in the journal of Riko's mother, who was a legendary White Whistle Delver. That said, Riko and Reg suddenly meet after she is attacked by a Crimson Splitjaw while exploring what was believed to be a safe section of the Abyss. Unable to defend herself, Reg jumped in with his incinerator to eliminate the threat. After Riko decides to journey down the Abyss, Reg follows her and acts much like her protector, as Riko is young and fragile. Despite being a capable fighter, Reg himself can be very naive and childish, which often causes him to become easily flustered, especially around Riko.
About Reg: Abilities
Although Riko could easily be considered the brains of the group due to her vast knowledge and understanding of the Abyss, Reg is very much the muscle. His skills and abilities as a fighter make him a wonderful protector for Riko throughout their journey, though he has a distinct lack of experience. Aside from being generally durable and strong, Reg also has the ability to extend his robotic arms to attack and grab onto things from approximately forty meters away. In addition, Reg can also fire a devastating incinerating beam. Specific details on the incinerator are not known, but its destructive power is virtually unparalleled. That said, using the incinerator has a limited number of uses and can cause Reg to pass out after the beam is fired.
Other Important Made in Abyss Characters
Throughout the journey to the bottom of the Abyss, there are two particularly important characters when it comes to Reg, which are Riko and Nanachi.
Riko
Riko is the young protagonist of Made in Abyss and the daughter of the White Whistle Delver named Lyza, who is known throughout the surface for her contributions to understanding the Abyss. Although she is still very young, Riko's energetic personality and bottomless curiosity for the Abyss leads to her wanting for nothing but traveling to the bottom of the Abyss to find her mother and learn about the Abyss herself, despite it meaning almost certain death. Since Riko has access to many of Lyza's notes and journals, she has a greater understanding of the Abyss than most, which constantly serves her and Reg well in their journey.
Nanachi
Nanachi is a Hollow who was once a human born in a country to the north of the Abyss. At some point, she was taken by the White Whistle, Bondrewd, and inhumanely experimented on to learn the effects of the curse of the Abyss on humans. Here, Nanachi met Mitty, and the two quickly became friends. As a result of the experiments, however, Nanachi and Mitty became greatly deformed by the curse, turning them into Hollows. Although Nanachi remained humanoid, Mitty became an immortal amorphous mass of flesh. The two eventually escaped from Bondrewd and lived on the fourth layer of the Abyss. Here, Nanachi offers to save Riko, who had been poisoned by a deadly Orb Piercer, in exchange for having Reg kill Mitty, as Nanachi believed Mitty could only live a life of torment and suffering as a Hollow.
