OtapediaInuyasha Inuyasha - Nendoroid

Since the manga's serialization in 1996 and the anime adaptation in 2000, Rumiko Takahashi's Inuyasha gained critical and commercial acclaim from around the world. Even over a decade since the completion of the original manga, the series is considered to be a classic among many in the otaku community and a must-enjoy for newcomers alike. Of course, with the success of the series, manufacturers were quick to produce plenty of merchandise based on Inuyasha as well, with one of the most popular types being figures based on its many characters. When it comes to figures, Good Smile Company's Nendoroid line is well known amongst collectors for its chibi style and relatively affordable prices. While several different characters have received Nendoroid figures as well, its titular protagonist is undoubtedly the most noteworthy. He would originally receive a Nendoroid release in October of 2020, but a second wave was announced for July 2021 with the "Nendoroid Inuyasha (Re-run)".

Nendoroid Inuyasha (Re-run)

This Nendoroid recreates the formidable half-yokai Inuyasha in all of his original glory, complete with his crimson Robe of the Fire-Rat. Other details include Inuyasha's snow-white hair, dog ears, and the Beads of Subjugation worn around his neck. In addition to the high amount of articulation of the figure, it also includes several accessories to help users recreate their favorite scenes from the series. Such extras include Inuyasha's iconic sword Tessaiga and its sheath, interchangeable arms and legs, and several face plates. These face plates let Inuyasha swap between a confident smirk, a fierce shout, and a puzzled look.

About Inuyasha

Inuyasha is a half-yokai and a main character in the Inuyasha series. He travels along with Kagome Higurashi to restore the Sacred Jewel after Kagome shattered it.

About Inuyasha: Background

Inuyasha was born as the half-yokai son of the dog daiyokai Toga and the human Izayoi. Although he is quite powerful compared to other yokai, he still desires to gain more power by obtaining the Sacred Jewel to turn himself into a full-blooded yokai like his brother Sesshomaru. This journey eventually led him to the protector of the Sacred Jewel, Kikyo, who swiftly defeated him, but left him alive. Inuyasha would continue to observe Kikyo, eventually resulting in the two falling in love. Another half-yokai named Naraku would use this relationship against them, however, and cause Kikyo to seal Inuyasha before passing away due to her own injuries. Several decades later, Kagome Higurashi would travel to the past and free Inuyasha and travel with him to repair the Sacred Jewel after Kagome shattered it.

About Inuyasha: Abilities

As a son of the dog daiyokai Toga, Inuyasha has an incredible amount of power that can defeat most demons with relative ease. Though he is not as strong as his full-blooded yokai brother Sesshomaru, he has similar abilities in terms of strength, speed, and senses. Aside from his raw power, Inuyasha often uses his sharp claws in combination with his ability to harden his blood to create projectiles. In addition, Inuyasha wields Tessaiga, one of the swords created from Toga's fangs. This sword can absorb yokai energy while also keeping Inuyasha's yokai blood from going berserk. The sheath of Tessaiga can also create barriers that can repel energy-based attacks.

Other Important Inuyasha Characters

Throughout Inuyasha's journey throughout the series, some of the important characters he meets are Kagome Higurashi and Sesshomaru

Kagome Higurashi

Kagome Higurashi is a human who lived in the modern era of Japan before she was transported nearly 500 years into the past. After she stumbles upon Inuyasha and frees him, she shatters the Sacred Jewel and travels with Inuyasha to find all of the shards and repair the Jewel. On her journey, she learns that she is the reincarnation of Kikyo, the former lover of Inuyasha and the previous guardian of the Sacred Jewel. Although she had little training with the bow and spiritual techniques, she quickly learned archery and how to use her spiritual energy for protection and purification.

Sesshomaru

Sesshomaru is the half-brother of Inuyasha. As a full-blooded yokai son of the legendary Toga, Sesshomaru is nearly unbeatable, even compared to Inuyasha. Due to his incredible power and distinguished heritage, Sesshomaru is an incredibly calm and proud individual. That said, while he has no desire for the Sacred Jewel, one of Sesshomaru's greatest desires is to obtain the Tessaiga. Sesshomaru had a great deal of respect toward his father Toga, but after Toga left Tessaiga for Inuyasha, he grew resentful toward Toga, Inuyasha, and humans in general. As such, Sesshomaru appears several times throughout the series in an attempt to take Tessaiga from Inuyasha, though he never truly succeeds.
