Rin Shima is one of the main characters from the popular series, Laid-Back Camp. With her petite frame and quiet personality, she captures the hearts of the fans. About Rin Shima
Rin Shima is a quiet girl who prefers camping alone. However, she is often seen riding her Yamaha Vino moped.
About Rin Shima: Background
She was born on the 1st of October. Influenced by her grandfather, she started camping during the winter of her first year in middle school. She has plenty of experience and knowledge but prefers to camp alone and chooses explicitly to camp in the offseason winter. Before she met Nadeshiko Kagamihara, she had never gone camping with another person. Due to this, she chooses not to participate in the Outdoor Activity Club.
While at first, she seems awkward and introverted to those she is close with, she shows moments of joking around with them and teases others. She also communicates with the members of the Outdoor Activity Club with no problem and is even good friends with them. Their closeness is shown as she calls all of her friends by their names.
About Rin Shima: Abilities
One of Rin's strengths is her vast knowledge and experience in camping. Her expertise comes in handy when in trouble and allows them to camp safely. She originally started camping by packing her luggage onto the bicycle. However, after obtaining her license, she now uses a moped and goes to different prefectures. Before meeting Nadeshiko, she would usually only eat instant noodles, but after seeing her delicious food, she has started cooking at her camps.
Rin can also carry heavy amounts on her bicycle and her moped. Most notably, she brings a box filled with books (around 15kg) with ease, and it's likely she also has immense stamina.
Other Important Laid Back Camp Characters
While she was initially a loner, Rin started to engage with different people and create friendships. Notably, the start of these changes was when she met Nadeshiko.
Nadeshiko Kagamihara
Nadeshiko Kagamihara and Rin first encounter each other near lake Motosuko. She finds Nadeshiko in tears after she overslept and had been left behind by her family and had no way to contact her family. Rin then feeds Nadeshiko some curry noodles, and in return, Nadeshiko cooks a hot pot for Rin. This is a turning point for Rin as she starts creating new friends and she also starts enjoying cooking at her camps,
Ena Saito
The two are very close friends and constantly text each other when Rin is camping. Ena is the reason Rin agrees to go camping with the others. Before this and meeting Nadeshiko on her camping trip, Rin had never been camping with others.
