About All Might

All Might be previously the No.1 professional hero and was known as the Symbol of Peace. He currently teaches Foundational Hero Studies at U.A. High School.

About All Might: Background

All Might has the appearance of the ideal superhero most would imagine. He is also charismatic, courageous, selfless, kind-hearted, and protective, like a superhero. He lives up to his name and is the "Symbol of Peace", and takes great pride in protecting the people of Japan. However, he is more focused and serious and not as dramatic as his muscle form when he is in his usual form.

From a young age, All Might has had the goal of becoming a person people could always rely on. He achieved this goal after receiving the One for All from his master. This enabled him to become a legend, and no matter who he battled, they quivered with fear. It is to the point where even the villain Hero Killer: Stain also admits All Might is a true hero.

However, he is adamant that he must remain the legend and hero the people perceive him to be. He also considers self-sacrificing the noblest action. This leads to All Might's strong will to keep his weakened state a secret. He also pushes himself to extreme lengths to protect his secret while protecting others.

About All Might: Abilities

Being the most extraordinary hero alive and Symbol of Peace, his presence alone deters the criminals and villains committing crimes. Notably, he was born without a quirk and later obtained it from Nana Shimura. The One For All quirk allowed him to store war power and enhance his physical and superhuman abilities. Even compared to the previous quirk holder, his strength is so potent that he could defeat All For One twice, which was unheard of. However, in the last battle against All For One, he sustains gruesome injuries, limiting the amount of power he can release. Nevertheless, despite passing on his quirk to Izuku, he still has immense strength to withstand multiple groups of professional heroes.

Other Important My Hero Academia Characters

As a teacher at U.A High School, many of All Might's interactions are with the students. In particular, he has a special interest in Izuku Midoriya.

Izuku Midoriya

All Might and Deku (Izuku Midoriya) first meet when All Might comes to Izuku's aid when a villain attacks him. He initially believes the Izuku is a mere fan. However, All Might is unable to upkeep his proper form and reveals his injured state. He also tells Izuku that it's impossible to become a hero with a quirk, breaking Izuku's spirit. However, All Might's opinion of Izuku changes and suggests that Izuku could be worthy enough to inherit his quirk, One for All. The relationship between the two continues to evolve and is almost like family.

Nana Shimura

Nana Shimura is All Might's mentor and the predecessor of the One For All Quirk. Nana is the one who teaches All Might that heroes must continue to smile no matter the situation and must protect the people. All Might highly respect Nana as a mentor, friend, and hero. Their bond is so strong that it crushed him when he witnessed her death.

Katsuki Bakugo

All Might and Katsuki Bakugo met when the Sludge Villain was attacking Katsuki. All Might has acknowledged that Katsuki is a promising hero. While he has his opinions about his reckless fighting style, he does commend Katsuki's calamity for staying calm and smiling in the face of danger. They have a strong bond, especially when Katsuki sees All Might's proper form and feels guilty for causing his retirement. All Might continues to act as a mentor towards him and gives him advice so that he can grow.

Gran Torino

Gran was All Might's teacher when he was a child. Despite respecting him as his teacher, All Mights shows signs of fear and seems to have developed some trauma from Gran's training methods. He avoids talking about him to Izuku. While Gran put All Might under hard training, he did care for his student and became a teacher to teach All Might. The two stay friends and Gran accompanies All Might throughout his life.
