OtapediaMy Hero Academia - Figures

My Hero Academia is a popular anime series that aired in Japan in spring of 2016 and was later broadcast in the U.S. in 2018. Since its airing, many of the series’ characters have been released as figures. Many are either in their school uniforms or in their unique and eye-catching hero costumes. This makes them very popular, as every character has their own ‘quirks’, and their own special appeal to the audience. My Hero Academia has become one of the most well-known anime to recently air, and since it is still ongoing, more people join the fanbase everyday. This puts some of the most featured and popular figures and nendoroids in higher demand. The main characters of the series are mostly still in high school, but their charming personalities make them likable to a huge demographic of viewers. Figures for many of the protagonists of the series can be found easily, such as Izuku Midoriya (also called Deku), All Might, Katsuki Bakugo, Tomura Shigaraki, Shoto Todoroki, Ochaco Uraraka, Momo Yaoyorozu and Tsuyu Asui. Some popular figures include “Texture My Hero Academia Izuku Midoriya”, “My Hero Academia Banpresto Figure Colosseum Vol 7.: Katsuki Bakugo Ver. A”, and “Ichiban Figure My Hero Academia Shoto Todoroki”.

Texture My Hero Academia Izuku Midoriya

This figure displays Izuku Midoriya (also referred to by his hero name, “Deku”) in his hero costume. His pose is relaxed, legs apart and seemingly adjusting his gloves. Several changes had to be made to Izuku’s hero costume after his original costume, which was hand-made by his mom, was badly damaged after training exercises. The main body of Izuku’s costume is a dark turquoise color with black detailing. After several intense battles with enemies, Izuku added arm and leg reinforcements to the costume as well. As such, he wears what looks to be long, off white gloves reaching his upper arms, with bulky white reinforcements around the wrist. The top of each glove has blue detailing. His shoulder pads are a matching white and around his neck is a silver mask which is meant to cover his nose and mouth. He wears a red belt around his waist with boots that also reach his upper legs, and are reinforced to make his kicks more powerful. His boots are now black with red socks, replacing the red sneakers he used to wear. He has an intensely concentrated expression, though his eyes are still wide and child-like. Izuku’s freckles are noticeable and his curly green hair shaded in black is in its usual messy style.

My Hero Academia Banpresto Figure Colosseum Vol 7.: Katsuki Bakugo Ver. A

This figure displays Katsuki Bakugo in his hero gear. Bakugo’s quirk allows him to create explosions of fire with the palms of his hands, and his hero costume reflects this. In this figure, Bakugo is posed as if he is mid-fight, legs bent and drawn off the ground. One arm is held out to stabilise his pose, while the other reaches forward, open palmed. His eyes, seen through the black mask he wears, are narrowed while his mouth is open in a scream and his blond hair is especially spiky and messy. His costume’s most notable feature are the gauntlets around his forearms and wrists, which are shaped as huge grenades. He wears orange gloves, and the body of his costume is mostly black with a huge orange X that crosses his chest. He also wears a green and orange belt that connects to supports down his black pants. He also wears silver shoulder and knee pads with orange detailing. His boots are also black and have orange soles.

Ichiban Figure My Hero Academia Shoto Todoroki

In this figure, Shoto Todoroki shows off his ice and fire powers in his hero costume. Todoroki chose his first name as his hero name; Shoto. His pose is calm and standing firm. Todoroki’s expression in this figure is very ‘cool’, matching his usual calm demeanor, even during battles. His left eye is marred by a large burn scar, which he got as a child from boiling water. Perhaps due to his quirk, Shoto possesses odd coloring; his hair is split evenly into red and silvery white. His eyes are also different colors - one is a dark gray while the other is an icy blue. Shoto’s hero costume is a dark blue jumpsuit with a raised collar. This costume replaced his first; which was a white jumpsuit. He has red and silver supports going around his shoulders and wears tall white boots with zippers in place of laces. The sleeves of his jumpsuit are rolled up around his elbows, most likely so he can use his quirk easier. His left hand holds a ball of fire, while the right hand and arm is covered in shards of ice. He has burgundy leather wrist supports with metal silver plating, which match with the shoulder supports and around his waist is a sturdy utility belt, from which hangs small capsules of medicine. These help to regulate his quirk.

About the Characters

Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo were childhood friends before their quirks developed. During elementary and junior high, they grew apart, with Bakugo going so far as to bully Izuku daily for being quirkless. Shoto Todoroki is the son of Enji Todoroki (also known by his hero name, Endeavour), from whom he inherited his fire abilities. He inherited his ice abilities from his mother, Rei Todoroki. All three boys want to become heroes, and therefore enlisted U.A. high school to gain hero training. Though they were distant and competitive at the beginning of their classes together, the three have now become good friends. During battles together, they regularly support and even save each other.
