Figuarts Dragon Ball Z - Figures
SH Figuarts (Simple style Heroic action Figures and Arts) is a line of models and figures made by Tamashii Nations which is a department within Bandai that specializes in the production of high quality collectibles. The line debuted in 2008 and was geared mainly towards fans of the Kamen Rider series but after seeing moderate success has branched out and now also includes other franchises. One of such is the critically acclaimed series Dragon Ball by legendary manga artist Akira Toriyama. With a wide range of characters to work with SH Figuarts and Dragon Ball are almost a perfect match. There’s now a long list of characters available; below are four popular models, Super Saiyan 4 Goku showing off his new transformation and ready to fight Baby; Shenron the legendary wish-granting dragon; the nightmare Legendary Super Saiyan Broly; and hailing from a devastated dystopian future, Teen Future Trunks.
Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku (FiguartsZero EX Dragon Ball GT)
A visually stunning rendition of the awesome Super Saiyan 4 Goku from the Dragon Ball GT anime series. Expert molding and shading gives depth and weight the folds in his yellow trousers and blue sash. Black matte colored spiky hair gives a 3D appeal that stays true to its anime origin. Very closely detailed fur makes the model stand out with extreme accuracy and attention to detail. With a smirk on his face, Goku is cockier than ever in his new Super Saiyan 4 transformation and not afraid to show it.

Shenron (S.H.Figuarts Dragon Ball Z)
Shenron is the mighty dragon that appears when all seven of the dragon balls are gathered and the magic chant uttered. The original Shenron was created by Kami; Piccolo’s better half and protector of Earth. When Piccolo dies in the series Kami also dies, resulting in the disappearance of the dragon balls. When this happens in the saiyan saga, the team go to Namek to find the Namekian dragon balls that are maintained by the power of the elder Guru. The Namekian dragon however is not Shenron but a giant muscular humanoid dragon called Porunga. While Shenron has the power to grant any wish he is not all powerful as noted when he sees Beerus standing among the crowd of people who summoned him. Shenron then begins to sweat and addresses Beerus with extremely polite speech and the correct honorific suffix. Shenron becomes Dark Smoke Shenron in Dragon Ball GT when the Dragon Balls collect up too much negative energy from their overuse.

Super Saiyan Broly (Figuarts Zero Dragon Ball Z: The Burning Battles)
Broly is a truly brutal force of nature. His genetics are mutated and his upbringing was traumatic, leading him to become the ultimate agent of destruction. Taken from his crib as a baby with a power level of 10,000 and stabbed before being thrown in the trash, Broly had potentially the worst childhood imaginable. Despite his seemingly mortal wounds he created an energy barrier and escaped the destruction of planet Vegeta through space with his father Paragas. Luring Vegeta and the remaining saiyans of Earth to an alien planet they dubbed the new Planet Vegeta, they plot to kill Vegeta. Broly and Paragus’ plans go sour though when Broly recognizes Goku and can't control his rage. Kakarot (Goku’s Saiyan name) being a memory from his traumatic childhood, the name and face send Broly ballistic. Here Broly is throwing an eraser cannon from his left hand with huge musculature and ki aura effects surrounding him.

Super Super Saiyan Trunks (Figuarts Zero EX Dragon Ball)
Future Trunks is undoubtedly a fan favorite. Partly due to his cool collected demeanor and his well-mannered way of speaking but also due to his power appearance and incredible power for his age. In stark contrast, present day Trunks is cheeky and a somewhat naughty child, getting up to all kinds of trouble with his friend Goten. Future Trunks never had this luxury as his world was torn apart by the Androids 17 and 18 since Goku had died of a heart disease. It is for this reason that Future Trunks came back to the present timeline to provide an antidote for goku’s sickness and hopefully prevent all the horrors of his timeline from ever happening again. Upon arriving he is met by the Z-Warriors as they all sense Frieza’s ki approaching from space. Trunks quickly becomes super saiyan and deals with the cyborg space emperor and his father. Gripping his sword, fist clenched Trunks is ready to fight. Donning his iconic blue denim capsule corporation jacket and boots and black tank top Trunks has always been one of the coolest looking characters.

About SH Figuarts
SH Figuarts are highly revered for their attention to detail and faithfulness to the source material. While some are non-articulated, articulated models are surprisingly agile and can be made to hold a number of poses. With a wide range of models available including major and minor characters from the series, SH Figuarts are a joy to collect. With the massive popularity of Dragon Ball and it’s following series’ Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, it only makes sense that one of the most impressive model makers make models of one of the most influential anime series of all time.
