About Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is a popular ongoing manga series written by Hirohiko Araki that received an anime adaptation produced by David Production and directed by Naokatsu Tsuda. The series began airing in October 2012 and the adaptation finished with Part 5 in July 2019. The story follows the Joestar family through several different generations and various confrontations with Dio and his legacy. Each “Part” is divided into a new generation and tells a story that is largely independent of the previous Parts. As each Part takes place in a different generation, a new setting and cast of characters are established every time. Each individual main character and their respective Parts each have their own aesthetics, tones, and genres, but there is one thing that connects all of the Jojo’s together: the inherited birthmark of the Joestar family. This mark is shaped like a violet star that appears on the back of their neck or shoulder.
