Bursting onto the manga scene in Japan and overseas in 2014, My Hero Academia took the world by storm. With a manga still in print, four seasons of animation, and two movies, the franchise shows no sign of stopping. My Hero Academia is a manga and anime based on a modern Japanese society that sees heroes as celebrities. Heroes are people who are born with a unique superpower called a ‘quirk’. Villains also exist and are people with quirks who decided to turn to crime instead of justice. The series focuses heavily on a class of students at the U.A. hero academy with Izuku Midoriya (Deku) as the main protagonist. There is a large cast of supporting and main characters among the students, teachers, pro heroes, and villains. One such character is Tenya Iida, the class leader. Despite being the class leader though he is routinely overruled by his classmates, much to his frustration. Tenya has shown time and time again to be one of the most fearless and loyal classmates in the class, even going so far as to sacrifice himself if it means saving his friends. Tenya’s quirk comes in the form of booster-like organs on the back of his legs. He can use them to move at extreme speeds. Nendoroid My Hero Academia Tenya Iida Figure

Tenya’s older brother Tensei was known as, ‘Turbo Hero Ingenium’ until he was made unable to move his legs following a battle with the hero killer Stain. This inspired Tenya to take up the mantle of Ingenium and continue his brother's legacy. Since he was a young boy Tenya looked up to his older brother Tensei and dreamt of being just like him. In the end, he got the chance and Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid Tenya Iida is the exact representation of this - but cuter.

About Tenya Iida

Tenya Iida is the class leader of 1A. He has a very serious and proper demeanor (potentially due in part to his constantly serious expression) and at times appears to be a little too strict, but his heart is big and he cares deeply for his family, classmates, and teachers. Being a pro hero is a natural path for members of his family, each receiving the engine quirk genetically (albeit on a different body part). His costume is also very similar to the costumes his family members wear; a black undergarment with various silver-colored armor plating on top. Tenya has always had a deep respect and admiration for his older brother Tensei, even so much as wanting to be like him as a pro hero. Tenya was affected deeply however when his brother’s pro career was cut short at the hands (or knife) of Stain. Tenya is a very strong combatant. His hand to hand combat skills are awesome and when using his quirk engine, he exhibits attacks that are extremely fast and powerful.

Other Important My Hero Academia Characters

Class 1A are all more or less friends. Some are on better terms than others of course, but most get along well. Tenya being the class leader doesn’t seem to impact his relationship with his classmates in a negative way and he even has close ties with Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka. Tenya’s love for his brother helped him become a better hero with better morals following the incident with the hero killer Stain. Considering his position as a main protagonist, Tenya himself is considered a very important character in the My Hero Academia franchise.
