Misato Katsuragi Neon Genesis Evangelion - Figures
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a classic mecha anime series produced by Gainax that originally aired in late 1995. Despite its sometimes unusual storytelling methods and its often existential plot, many viewers became fans of the series, which eventually led to many different spin-offs, films, and kinds of merchandise to be produced. One of the most popular characters of the series is Misato Katsuragi, Shinji’s guardian and commander. Because of her popularity, a variety of figures depicting her in a range of outfits, poses, and styles were produced by several popular manufacturers. Rebuild of Evangelion Misato Katsuragi: RE 1/6 Scale Figure
This figure features Misato kneeling down on one knee. One hand rests on her leg as the other is seen holding a gun as if she were ready to fire at any moment. Despite having her gun ready by her side, Misato’s expression is rather pensive, making it seem like she was deep in thought as she stares into the distance. A gentle breeze also seems to blow her hair behind her. This figure also has Misato wearing her classic outfit: a sleeveless black dress covered with a red jacket accompanied with black boots and a silver cross. This figure also includes a base shaped like a pile of rubble, further adding to the melancholic feel of the figure. Because this item is a scale figure, this depiction of Misato strives to capture as much detail as possible to perfectly recreate the character as they appear in the original series. Q Posket Rebuild of Evangelion Misato Katsuragi Figure
While the previous figure strives for accuracy, this figure from Banpresto takes Misato’s design and adds its own unique flair to it. The Q Posket line of figures all feature a chibi style that includes large heads and eyes along with a smaller body to emphasize the cuter aspects of a character. This particular figure has Misato standing casually with one hand on her hip. There is also a gentle smile on her face, emphasizing her cheerful personality. Like many other figures in the Q Posket line, this Misato figure comes in two different color variants. The “A” variant features Misato’s classic color scheme while the “B” version uses a lighter shade of red for her jacket. The cheaper price of Q Posket figures also make them a great addition to any fan’s collection.

Rebuild of Evangelion Captain Katsuragi Premium Figure
Unlike the previous entries, this figure is inspired by Misato’s design from later in the Rebuild of Evangelion series. Her black dress and red jacket are replaced with black slacks and a red military-style overcoat. Misato has one hand behind her head while the other is holding the remote controller for Shinji’s DSS Choker. Her usual cheerful smile has been exchanged for a much more cold and distant frown, a sign of just how significantly things have changed between Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0 and 3.0. This figure is also rather inexpensive, making it accessible to many fans.

About Misato Katsuragi
Misato Katsuragi is a captain at NERV and acts as the lead commander in missions that involve the EVA pilots. Furthermore, she is the guardian of the protagonist, Shinji Ikari. She is the daughter of Dr. Katsuragi, the leader of the expedition that found Adam and resulted in the Second Impact. Despite her tragic backstory, Misato generally has a cheerful personality around others but does tend to sulk when she is alone. Many male characters within the series believe that Misato is incredibly beautiful and voice their jealousy toward Shinji because he lives with her.
Other Important Evangelion Characters
As she is one of the more social characters, Misato interacts with many different characters in the series, though this is especially true for some characters. Misato is the commander for the EVA pilots, Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley, and Rei Ayanami. Furthermore, she acts much like a mother figure and guardian for Shinji. While she was in college, she became friends with Ryoji Kaji and Ritsuko Agaki. At the time, Misato and Ryoji were dating, but have since separated. Even after joining NERV, Misato and Ritsuko continued to be close friends.
