OtapediaDark Souls - Figures

Dark Souls is a series of games that was developed by FromSoftware and published by Namco Bandai Games. Although its first entry was originally released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011 but was later ported and released on other platforms in the following years. Many fans of the first game praised it for its incredibly difficult, yet rewarding gameplay, leading to sequels being produced following the release of the first game. With the series gaining popularity around the world, fans were quick to voice their desires for merchandise, with one of the most popular types being collectible figures of the memorable bosses and characters from the series. Out of these figures, some of the most popular include the “Dark Souls DXF Sculpt Collection Vol. 2: Artorias the Abysswalker”, the “Dark Souls Artorias the Abysswalker SD (Re-run)”, and the “Dark Souls DXF Sculpt Collection Vol. 4: Oscar Knight of Astora”.

This figure also comes with a stand with a stone pattern design on it to make it easier to display. Although Artorias’ head is now nearly as big as the rest of his body, this figure is not lacking in detail by any means. Everything to the fallen hero’s damaged arm, his immaculate silver armor, and his cursed greatsword are perfectly recreated, despite the different proportions. This figure also has a brilliant purple aura swirling around the figure, adding to Artorias’ intimidating appearance even more. It should also be noted that this item is a re-run of a previously released figure, meaning that demand for it is high. Interested fans may have a hard time finding this figure once it has sold out.

The Dark Souls Story

In the world of Dark Souls, everything from light and dark, heat and cold, and life and death were only distinguishable after the Advent of Fire created the First Flame. From this flame, creatures called Hollows gained incredible power and became Lords and began what came to be known as the Age of Fire. The first Dark Souls game takes place toward the end of this Age of Fire, where the First Flame is in danger of being snuffed out. With the only thing distinguishing life and death nearly gone, the line between life and death is blurred, causing humans to be reanimated into Undead. The player assumes the control of the Chosen Undead, who must overcome many trials and avoid becoming a mindless Hollow to reach the Bells of Awakening in the hope of breaking the curse known as Undeath.

The Dark Souls Series Development

Dark Souls was first developed by FromSoftware for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and released on September 22nd, 2011. It acts much like a spiritual successor to FromSoftware’s 2009 game, Demon’s Souls, and takes many gameplay elements from it. The director for both games is Hidetaka Miyazaki, who would also go on to direct other FromSoftware games like Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Due to the success of Dark Souls, Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III were developed and released for various platforms in 2012 and 2016 respectively. The first game also eventually got a remastered version that was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, and Nintendo Switch in 2018.
