Homura Akemi Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Nendoroid
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is an original anime series that was written by Gen Urobuchi and produced by the anime studio Shaft in 2011. Ever since the first episode of the series, many fans were drawn to Madoka Magica for its much darker take on the magical girl genre. Since its original run, the series spawned numerous films, spin-off series, games, and merchandise. Out of the various types of merchandise made for Madoka Magica, one of the most desired among fans would be figures based on characters from the series. While many manufacturers produce a wide array of different types of figures, Good Smile Company's Nendoroid line is one of the most recognizable. Of the many characters in the Madoka Magica series, one of the most popular would be Homura Akemi, who plays a central role in the series as a whole. As such, she would receive several Nendoroid figures, with the most recent release being the "Nendoroid Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Homura Akemi: Kimono Ver."

This figure of Homura features her in a unique and fashionable kimono. The design of this traditional Japanese winter dress is mainly colored a bright yellow but slowly fades into purple, Homura's signature color, toward the bottom of the dress. Several types of leaves and flowers also decorate the kimono pattern as well. The red and black polka-dotted obi also adds a nice contrast with the yellow dress. The rest of the outfit also includes a black scarf and a pair of black gloves. About Homura Akemi
Homura Akemi is a magical girl who was contracted to fight Witches and was unknowingly the first person who exposed Madoka Kaname to the existence of magical girls.
About Homura Akemi: Background
The first time the audience is introduced to Homura, she is seen fighting against Witches in one of Madoka's dreams. Shortly after, the two meet in the real world and Homura explicitly tells Madoka to never become a magical girl. At school, Homura is often described as being cold and distant, yet extremely talented when it comes to academics, sports, and so on. In reality, Homura used to be much less confident in her abilities, but the suffering she went through as a magical girl forced her personality to shift to what it currently is. While she often comes off as harsh toward Madoka, Homura deeply cares for her and attempts to stop her from becoming a magical girl to protect her.
About Homura Akemi: Abilities
The main magical ability that Homura has is her ability to stop time with the use of the hourglass kept within her shield. While this can be used to avoid attacks and such, Homura can also use this stopped time to prepare massive attacks against her enemies. Those in direct contact with Homura when she activates this ability are also rendered immune, allowing them to move around as well. In addition, Homura can also reverse one month's worth of time and retain her memories. Using this ability causes a new timeline to be formed, as Homura and the others make different decisions than the original timeline. Homura's shield can also store a vast arsenal of weapons, allowing her to summon weapons similar to Mami.
Other Important Puella Magi Madoka Magica Characters
Several other characters in the original Puella Magi Madoka Magica series that are particularly important to Homura include Madoka Kaname and Mami Tomoe
Madoka Kaname
Madoka Kaname is the titular character of Puella Magi Madoka Magica and the main protagonist of the series. After seeing a dream of Homura fighting against strange monsters in a dream one night, Madoka is surprised to see Homura appear as a transfer student the very next day. She is often seen as a very social, kind, and honest individual who would not hesitate to put others above herself. Due to this honest nature, she often struggles internally deciding on whether or not she should become a magical girl, as Homura strongly warns her to avoid doing so. In the end, her desire to help others gets the better of her and she forms a contract with the mysterious Kyubey. As a magical girl, she fights Witches with a bow that can fire arrows of energy. This bow can also fire multiple arrows at once and can unleash a devastating barrage if desired.
Mami Tomoe
Mami Tomoe is another magical girl who saves Madoka and her friend, Sayaka, from familiars of a Witch after the pair had wandered into its lair. After Mami defeats the Witch, she offers to become a mentor figure for both Madoka and Sayaka, should they decide to become magical girls. Generally speaking, Mami is shown to have a strong sense of justice and will go out of her way to help others, even when there is virtually no reward in it for her. She also often enjoys inviting the others to tea parties and will bake a variety of sweets for them to enjoy. As a magical girl, Mami has two main magical abilities. The first is the ability to manipulate the ribbons on her outfit. These ribbons can be used in a variety of ways, from slicing through enemies, grappling enemies to prevent them from escaping or creating platforms to improve maneuverability. Her second ability allows her to use her ribbons to summon an endless number of muskets. While each musket can only fire once, she can create many of them at once, allowing her to fire a barrage of bullets all at once.
