About Miles Morales: Background
Miles Morales is an intelligent young teenager who joins a new school. As he tries to adjust to life, he is also thrown into the unexpected role of Spider-Man.
He lives in Brooklyn, New York, and is very talented in spray-painting graffiti. He wins a contest that gives him the chance to join Brooklyn Visions Academy, Private School. As Miles is stressed out from school, he goes to graffiti an empty subway. In this subway, Miles is bitten by a genetically modified spider, "42." Due to this bite, Miles starts to undergo significant changes. He goes through a sudden growth spurt and is able to adhere to materials and surfaces. Later he reads a comic book that shows the origins of Spider-Man and finds that there are strong similarities between him and Spider-Man.
A series of incidents then leads him to a mysterious lab where he sees Spider-Man fighting off the Green Goblin and Powler. Spider-Man then realizes that Miles is like him and offers to train Miles if he stays around. However, Spider-Man is beaten severely and then hands miles a flash drive to shut down the particle collider later on. While Miles attempts to leave, he also witnesses Spider-Man being killed.
As the news of Spider-Man is spread, Miles is guilt-ridden and attends a memorial held for him. Peter Parker's wife, Mary Jane, states that everyone is Spider-Man in the end. Miles takes this speech to heart and thinks of a way to continue Peter's legacy.
About Miles Morales: Abilities
Miles obtains a spider's physiology after being bitten by a genetically modified spider. He now possesses superhuman strength, speed, and agility. He can also cling to surfaces and has a spider-sense that alerts him of danger. All of his superhuman abilities are proportionate to a spider's strength. He also can venom strike. It is a way to direct energy through his hands to an opponent. It can be conducted through material both Miles and his opponent touch and is strong enough to knock out Peter Parker. His superhuman abilities allow him to take on opponents with ease.
Miles Morales has been portrayed as an intelligent teenage kid, even before the life-altering changes. He is considered brilliant, which allowed him to win a contest and earn a scholarship to attend the famous Brooklyn Visions Academy, Private School.
