Rey Skywalker, born Rey Palpatine, was from Jakku, a desert planet, and was a scavenger. She decides to help the droid BB-8 and deliver it to the Resistance, as he held the location to Luke Skywalker, who Rey had thought was a myth.

Rey later discovers that she is a very talented individual with an affinity for the Force. Her Force is accidentally awakened when Kylo Ren probes her mind. She later journeys to Luke Skywalker to have him train her. Luke is initially reluctant to teach her and teaches her so that she will give up. Rey is a potent individual and has a solid connection to the Force due to being the granddaughter of Darth Sidious. Her strong affinity for the Force is seen in the pace and the strength she can use the Force after a mere one year of training. For example, after one year of training, she was able to kill her grandfather by redirecting his Force lighting back to himself.

Telekinesis is used as both an offense and defense. Her power with telekinesis is able to rival a weakened Kylo Ren. Even after the Battle of Crait, she could move and lift a pile of small boulders with little effort. After training with Leia, she could levitate both herself and large amounts of stone.
Another notable ability is telepathy. Rey uses telepathy to communicate with others, particularly with Ren, due to their bond through the Force. Additionally, Rey can use the Mind Prove to go through others' thoughts and use it to block anyone trying to enter her Mind. She can also mind trick others. However, this ability does not work on anyone with a strong will.

One of Rey's strengths is her Lightsaber skills. She is very skilled and a great duelist despite having almost no training in wielding the lightsaber. Kylo Ren and Rey initially have a deep hatred for each other. Rey sees Kylo as a monster while Kylo is very intrigued by her. As the story progresses, the two start to care for each other deeply. The two have been connected through the Force from a young age, and both have had visions and experienced vivid emotions related to incidents that occurred to themselves. The two wield immense power and can heal themselves and those around them and even revive the dead if needed. As their lifelines are intertwined, their fates are also intertwined. The bond allows them to understand each other's feelings and helps them grow close together.
