About Emperor Palpatine

Starting out as a Senator from the planet Naboo, he seemed like a caring man. However, no one could have guessed that he was actually trained as a Sith the whole time. This Sith lord would become powerful enough to turn the whole galaxy over twice.

Background

This man started as a simple Senator from Naboo, while he was actually the return of the sith. After killing his master, Darth Plagueis, he took on his first apprentice, Darth Maul. After Darth Maul’s defeat by Obi-Wan, he took on another apprentice, Darth Tyranus who we know as Count Dooku. After Count Dooku’s death by Anakin, Darth Sidious turned his eyes to Anakin. Once he turned Anakin and changed him to Darth Vader, things really took shape. With all of his apprentices, Darth Sidious was running two lives. Being Darth Sidious and secretly planning the downfall of the Republic, while also being Senator Palpatine. Once his plan of orchestrating the Clone Wars worked, he activated his true plan, eradicating the Jedi and making himself the Emperor.

Special Abilities

It takes power to become the Galactic Emperor, as well as to hide his true nature from the Jedi Counsel. Emperor Palpatine not only did that but was able to battle Yoda to a stalemate. With that being said, Emperor Palpatine is exceptional at lightsaber duels, only being defeated by Mace Windu. Probably his favorite ability is force lightning, which he uses as an attack and as a means of torture. He also has the ability of Foresight, which means he can see every outcome of an event. Emperor Palpatine was able to use telekinesis exceptionally well, along with a force dash. When you combine all of these, he was a truly terrifying opponent. One who can choke people from thousands of light-years away, while being a fast and aggressive lightsaber duelist. Oh, and he can literally shoot lightning from his fingertips.

Other Important Star Wars Characters

In addition to Emperor Palpatine, we have a few other important connected characters, Darth Vader, Count Dooku, and Darth Maul. These men were not only his apprentices but his staunch Sith allies, only one would leave his apprenticeship willingly. Here is a closer look at them.

Darth Vader

The man was once known as Anakin Skywalker, but no longer until his death. Darth Vader was supposed to bring balance to the force, instead, he was the end of the Jedi. When Anakin turned on the Jedi by stopping Mace Windu from killing Emperor Palpatine, he became Darth Vader. He didn’t even know that he had two children alive. One would bring him back from Darth Vader and into Anakin so he could fulfill his destiny. The other, he actually met and threatened, even capturing her and almost torturing her. In the end, he couldn’t watch Emperor Palpatine torture Luke and threw him into the core of the Death Star. He finally brought balance to the force, at the cost of his own life.

Count Dooku

The man who was entrusted to prepare the clone wars was also the one who trained Qui-Gon. However, he left the Jedi order and turned his loyalties to Darth Sidious. He was entrusted by Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) to prepare both armies for the clone wars. Count Dooku recruited whole star systems to the separatist cause, all while ordering the creation of a clone army. Dooku and Grievous later kidnapped Chancellor Palpatine, who was still in disguise as Chancellor Palpatine. The kidnapping made Anakin and Obi-Wan rescue the Chancellor, which resulted in the death of Count Dooku. It was then that Anakin was chosen to replace Count Dooku as Emperor Palpatine’s apprentice.

Darth Maul

This is the man who killed Qui-Gon and was defeated by Obi-wan. Even though he survived, he was dropped by Darth Sidious as a Sith lord. This infuriated Darth Maul, who still considered himself a Sith Lord, so while he recovered, he plotted revenge against everyone. Specifically plotting against Darth Sidious and Obi-Wan. He focused in the meantime on building his criminal empire, which he eventually lost. Losing both his criminal empire and the planet he was ruling over. Which gave him free time, enough to be consumed by revenge and hunt down Obi-Wan. He tracked Obi-Wan all the way to Tatooine, where Obi-Wan was beginning his watch over baby Luke. They faced off for a last time, with Obi-Wan killing Darth Maul.
