About Pharah

Pharah is a damage hero in the Overwatch game. She is an Egyptian security chief and justice fighter who has always believed in making a difference in the world.

Background

Pharah, originally known as Fareeha Amari, is an Egyptian security chief who is the daughter of Overwatch co-founder, Ana Amari. Pharah grew up as a courageous fighter, who always dreamed of following in her mother’s footsteps and fighting as a part of Overwatch. She had many disagreements with her mother regarding possibly becoming a career fighter and joining Overwatch. While Ana, Pharah's mother was a fierce fighter for Overwatch, she didn't want that for Pharah. Ana disappeared after falsifying her murder in combat. During that time Pharah set out to pursue her dream of being a justice fighter and doing good for the world. She went through the ranks in the Egyptian military, before being hired as the security chief of Helix Security International, a security firm funded by the United Nations. While there, she quickly moved up the ranks and was tasked with defending an AI research facility. Although courageously she took her place in her new position at Helix Security International, she sometimes felt sad that she didn’t get a chance to be in Overwatch. However, she was assigned the title of lieutenant by the head of her security company. One day her mother Ana is drawn out of hiding as she tries to help a fellow Overwatch agent during combat. Pharah finds out and rekindles her relationship with her mother. Throughout the storyline, there are references that Pharah’s father may be from Canada, however, it hasn’t been exactly clear.

Special Abilities

As a damage hero in the Overwatch multiplayer game, Pharah packs a punch with her unique armor, abilities, and weapons. Her signature Rocket Launcher is a long-range projectile weapon. Her Jump Jet thrusts her into the air during combat, making her difficult to defeat. Furthermore, her conclusive blast, another one of her signature moves, makes her capable of knocking back enemies with a wrist rocket.

Pharah forms relationships with various characters in Overwatch, even though she never becomes an actual member of the Overwatch team. Some of the characters that she forms relationships with are Mercy, Reaper, and McCree.

Mercy

Mercy, also known as Angela Ziegler is a support hero in Overwatch. She was a scientist from Switzerland before joining Overwatch and is distinctive by her gold halo, wings, and staff that projects a beam to heal her allies during battles.

Reaper

Reaper, formerly Gabriel Reyes from Los Angelos, is a hero-turned-villain who sets out to murder the remaining ex-Overwatch members. He turned against Overwatch and now works for Talon, a terrorist organization. After a scientific experiment-gone-wrong, he gained the ability to turn into ghost-like dust and uses it to attack his enemies.

McCree

McCree, also known as Jesse McCree is a former gang member who was recruited by Gabriel Ryes when he was in Blackwatch, the special-ops group of Overwatch. McCree worked in Blackwatch and is known to use his signature weapon, the Peacekeeper. He also has a signature logo on his belt that reads “BAMF”.
