OtapediaJinbe One Piece - Figures

The One Piece franchise first began as a manga series created by Eiichiro Oda that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 1997. As of early 2021, the manga series has had over a thousand chapters printed, a milestone that few have been able to accomplish. The anime adaptation by Toei is similarly successful, as it has aired over nine-hundred episodes since it debuted in 1999. With a franchise as successful as One Piece, it is understandable if fans may be overwhelmed by the amount of merchandise that is available to purchase. Straw Hats like Luffy, Nami, and Brook may have dozens of unique figures, other characters have several figures of their own. One such character is the newest addition to the Straw Hat Pirates, Jinbe. Out of the several figures that recreate Jinbe’s likeness, some of the most popular include the “Figuarts Zero One Piece Knight of the Sea Jinbe”, the “One Piece Banpresto World Figure Colosseum 2 Vol. 4: Jinbe”, and the “One Piece King of Artist: Jinbe”.

Figuarts Zero One Piece Knight of the Sea Jinbe Figure

This figure from Bandai’s Figuarts Zero line, which sets out to recreate popular characters as highly detailed and intricate statues. This holds true for this figure of Jinbe, who stands firmly at 7.5 inches tall and is packed full of interesting details. He is posed in a battle stance that has his knees bent and has one arm held outward with his open palm facing his target. Jinbe also wears his outfit from the Fish-Man Island Arc, which consists of a pale green robe that is lined with orange and tied with a matching belt.

This particular figure, however, has him wearing his outfit from the Whole Cake Island Arc: a yellow robe with a floral pattern that is decorated with a skull and crossbones and tied with a green sash. Jinbe also wears this outfit open, exposing his sturdy build and the red Sun Pirate tattoo on his chest.

About Jinbe

Jinbe is a Fish-Man that was the former captain of the Sun Pirates before he was recruited to be the helmsman for the Straw Hat Pirates. The following is a brief summary of his character.

Background

Growing up as a young, orphaned Fish-Man, Jinbe befriended Arlong, Macro, and Fisher Tiger. During this time, he also trained at a Fish-Man Karate dojo, where he mastered the martial arts and eventually earned a black belt. Many years later, he became a soldier of the Neptune Army while Fisher Tiger rebelled in Mary Geoise after becoming a slave for the World Nobles. Shortly after this, Jinbe left the Army to join Fisher Tiger and the other Sun Pirates - a group largely composed of former slaves that had their brands masked with the image of a sun. As time went on, the Sun Pirates would split into three groups, with Jinbe taking the role of captain of one of them. He would eventually go on to become a Warlord, though this status was removed after he ignored a summons from the World Government.

Special Abilities

Although he does not have the powers of a Devil Fruit, Jinbe is an incredible fighter, as a captain and a member of the Seven Warlords should be. Many of his attacks come in the form of Fish-Man Karate, which Jinbe has been using since he was young. This school of martial arts allows Jinbe to make melee and ranged attacks that are deadly on their own, but become even more potent in the presence of water.

Other Important One Piece Characters

Two characters that have a particular noticeable history with Jinbe are Arlong and Big Mom. An overview of their respective characters are listed below.

Arlong

Arlong is a shark Fish-Man that was once a member of the Sun Pirates, but eventually created his own group named the Arlong Pirates when the Sun Pirates split up. He, like many other Fish-Men, is widely known for his distaste for surface-dwelling humans and believes that Fish-Men are superior in every way. His reign of the people in the East Blue was rather cruel and required large amounts of money from each person just so they could continue to live. Luffy, however, managed to defeat Arlong and freed the people from his tyranny.

Charlotte Linlin

Charlotte Linlin, also known as Big Mom, is one of the Four Emperors and is the captain of the Big Mom Pirates. Her crew is composed almost entirely of her own children, of which she has over eighty. Aside from her picky, yet gluttonous appetite, Big Mom has astronomical amounts of strength and durability, making her an incredibly formidable foe, even for characters as powerful as Luffy. Furthermore, she has the powers of the Soul-Soul Fruit, which allows her to manipulate the souls of others. While this ability can be used to steal the life force of others, this Devil Fruit also allows its user to use this stolen life energy to animate inanimate objects.
