About Christie Monteiro
Christie Monteiro is one of the main Capoeira fighters in the Tekken game series. She was trained in the popular martial arts style in her native Brazil. Here is a brief overview of the character.
Background
Christie Monteiro is a fighter from Brazil who was trained by Eddy Gordo in Capoeira and is the granddaughter of the infamous Grandmaster. She quickly mastered the Capoeira martial arts style through Eddy’s training. However one day, Eddy disappeared and went to seek revenge for his father's murder. Christie searched the globe for Eddy to no avail and entered the King of the Iron Fist Tournament 4 in hopes of meeting him there. Eventually, Christie found him injured and secretive about his whereabouts. Years later, Christie’s grandfather, the Grandmaster having been in jail for years, was released. She found that he'd become ill and unable to fight. Christie and Eddy then enter the King of the Iron Fist Tournament 5 in hopes of winning and getting her grandfather involved in some of the Mishima Zaibatsu’s dubious but hopeful scientific experiments. Christie loses and returns to Brazil and finds out Eddy has disappeared and been kidnapped by the Mishima Zaibatsu. She enters King of the Iron Fist 6 to find her grandfather, with Eddy also nowhere to be found. However, her grandfather's condition deteriorates. Although Christie doesn’t appear in the King of the Iron Fist 7, she’s a well-received character and is one of the main characters in Tekken to use the Capoeira fighting style.
