OtapediaDonquixote Rosinante Corazon One Piece - Figures

The One Piece franchise first began as a manga series published in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 1997. Over two decades later, the series still has serialized chapters released nearly every week, resulting in a total of over a thousand chapters as of early 2021. As the manga gained popularity among fans, an anime adaptation was produced by Toei and began airing in 1999 that, like its manga counterpart, continues to air every week. One Piece further spread its influence to other types of media as well, like video games, theatrically released films, novels, and more.

With a massive hit like One Piece, fans were quick to voice their desires for various kinds of merchandise, with one of the most popular types being figures of the many different characters that appear throughout the series. While some of the Straw Hat Pirates like Monkey D. Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp all have dozens of different figures that recreate their appearances throughout One Piece, some of the minor characters have a few figures of their own. Donquixote Rosinante (also known by his codename, Corazon), is one such character that first appeared in the Dressrosa Arc. One of the most popular figures of Corazon is Banpresto’s “One Piece DXF - The Grandline Men Vol. 23”.

One Piece DXF - The Grandline Men Vol. 23 Figure

This collection of figures features the Donquixote brothers and can be purchased individually. The figure of Doflamingo has him wearing a black button-up shirt and red tie, as well as a pair of white pants with red flames and black shoes. He also wears his classic pink feather coat, which he is rarely seen without. Doflamingo is posed standing up with one hand in his pocket and the other gripping his tie at the collar as he gives an intimidating grin.

On the other hand, Corazon wears a pink shirt with a heart pattern on it that is accompanied with long white pants, a black feather coat, and a red hood. His pose mirrors his older brother’s in several ways, as Corazon is standing with a hand in one pocket. Instead of grabbing his collar, however, he holds a cigarette in his other hand. Corazon’s face is also covered in make-up, particularly along his right eye and lips. Both figures in this collection also come with black bases, making them incredibly easy to display.

About Corazon

Corazon is the younger brother of Doflamingo, the main antagonist of One Piece’s Dressrosa Arc. The following excerpts are a short summary of his character.

Background

Corazon was born as Donquixote Rosinante and was once considered to be a Celestial Dragon along with his family. After their father renounced their position to live the lives of common people, Corazon’s family was subjected to constant harassment by the local civilians. Doflamingo, upset that they had given up their luxurious lives for this abuse, eventually killed their father and the brothers went their separate ways. Doflamingo went on to form the Donquixote Pirates while Corazon was found by Admiral Sengoku, who raised him and led to Corazon enlisting in the Marines.

Many years later, Corazon became a spy for the Marines and rejoined his brother’s pirate group, Here, he was given a position as an Elite Officer and eventually met Trafalgar Law. Law and Corazon quickly became close, though, due to the effects of Amber Lead Syndrome, Law was expected to die at a young age. Corazon took it upon himself to desperately search for a way to cure Law and eventually came across the Op-Op Fruit, which Doflamingo was also searching for due to its ability to grant one eternal youth. This eventually caused Corazon’s status as a spy to be discovered, resulting in his death at the hands of Doflamingo himself.

Special Abilities

Although Corazon has exceptional physical abilities that make him a great fighter, his greatest strength is his ability to deceive others. As a spy for the Marines, Corazon was able to hide his true mission and Devil Fruit abilities from the other Donquixote Pirates, including Doflamingo. Furthermore, his Calm-Calm Fruit abilities allow him to create soundproof barriers that can block the sound coming from one’s surroundings and the sounds that one makes themselves, making it great for stealth.

Other Important One Piece Characters

Two characters that are particularly important to Corazon are his brother, Doflamingo, and Trafalgar Law.

Doflamingo

Doflamingo is the leader of the Donquixote Pirates and the ruler of Dressrosa. Aside from his status as a Warlord (up until the Warlord system was dissolved), Doflamingo also had a prominent presence in the Black Market. In this illegal underground business, Doflamingo uses the codename “Joker” and deals mainly with selling weapons and artificially produced Devil Fruits called SMILEs. Furthermore, Doflamingo also has the powers of the String-String Fruit, an incredibly powerful Fruit that allows him to control deadly threads that can be used to both attack and control his opponents.

Trafalgar D. Law

In the present, Law is the captain of the Heart Pirates and became a Warlord, though this position was taken from him after forming an alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates and assisting with Doflamingo’s defeat. When he was a child, he joined the Donquixote Pirates and met Corazon, who was initially very dismissive of Law but quickly changed his opinion after learning that he had the initial D. in his name. Law’s Op-Op Fruit gives him the ability to create an area that he has precise control of. This can be used to cut people into pieces without harming them and swap the positions of objects and people within this area.
