About Yusei Fudo
Yusei Fudo is the main protagonist in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds. A member of the Signers, Yusei possesses the ability to help summon the legendary Crimson Dragon.
Background
Yusei grew up as an orphan in Satellite in the Martha orphanage. There he developed a strong bond with fellow orphans Jack Atlas and Crow Hogan. Yusei became a kind, brotherly, and stoic person caring and providing for those around him. Along with the other orphans, Yusei started dueling as a means to survive. He showed a natural aptitude for the game, particularly when using a Duel Runner. Yusei values friendship above all else and always puts others above himself when facing dangerous situations.
Abilities
Yusei's greatest skill when dueling is his clear-minded and focused approach. He can visualize card flowcharts in his mind to plan and modify strategies even during heated duels. He demonstrated his technical prowess by building his own Duel Runner from scrap parts two separate times. As a Signer, Yusei possesses special immunities. In addition to Yusei Fudo, the main protagonist in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds, many characters play a vital role in the plot. Here is a brief description of Jack Atlas, Akiza Izinski, Crow Hogan, and Kalin Kessler.
Jack Atlas
Jack Atlas is Yusei’s former rival and foster brother from their time at Martha's orphanage. His parents died during the Zero Reverse Incident. The experience made Jack a lone wolf at the orphanage until Yusei and Crow broke through his shell. After a falling out, Jack steals Yusei's prized card, the Stardust Dragon, and runs away to New Domino City. At the beginning of the series, Jack holds the Duel King title and eventually earns the World King title. As Yusei, Jack is a member of the Signers, holding the Mark of the Dragon's wings.
Akiza Izinski
Akiza Izinski is a Duelist with psychic abilities in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds continuity. Her psychic powers allow her to manifest monsters from the cards and freely control them. Initially, Akiza wore a power stabilizing hairpin to help her limit her abilities. As a child, Akiza's mother despised her for having uncontrollable powers. Akiza became a cold and distant person as a result. She began to change after meeting Yusei and ended up falling in love with him. She is a member of the Signers, possessing the Mark of the Dragon's foot.
Crow Hogan
Crow Hogan is the deuteragonist of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds and Yusei and Jack's younger foster brother. After his parents died during the Zero Reverse Incident, Crow roamed the streets as an unclaimed child. He discovered a deck of Dueling cards one day, helping him meet other children and form his own family. Like Yusei, Crow has a noble, heroic personality. However, he displays more rash and temperamental behavior that causes him and the group trouble. He holds the Mark of the Dragon Tail.
Kalin Kessler
Kalin Kessler is a former childhood friend of Yusei and a minor antagonist in the Dark Signers arc. As children, Kalin formed a dueling group with Yusei, Jack, and Crow called the Enforcers and served as their leader. Due to a misunderstanding, Kalin believed Yusei purposefully got him arrested and became a Dark Signer to seek his revenge. Kalin and Yusei finally make amends after Yusei defeats him in a duel. He returns periodically throughout the series supporting Yusei and the other Signers.
