OtapediaJewelry Bonney One Piece - Figures

One Piece is a manga series that has taken the world by storm since its debut over two decades ago. The series was created by Eiichiro Oda, who has written over a thousand chapters of manga of One Piece when it first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 1997. With a series as highly regarded as One Piece, it should be no surprise that the franchise would expand its reach into other forms of media as well.

While merchandise based on more popular characters are easier to come by, *One Piece*’s influence is so great that even the incredible number of minor characters have their own merchandise as well. One such character is Jewelry Bonney, the captain of the Bonney Pirates and member of the Worst Generation. Two particularly popular figures of this character include the “Portrait of Pirates One Piece Limited Edition Jewelry Bonnie Ver. BB” and the “One Piece Glitter & Glamours Jewelry Bonney”.

Portrait of Pirates One Piece Limited Edition Jewelry Bonnie Ver. BB Figure

This figure of Jewelry Bonney is produced by MegaHouse and is a part of their BB (Bathing Beauty) series, which focuses on creating popular characters in appealing swimsuits. This particular figure is no exception, as it has Jewelry Bonney wearing a pair of short denim shorts, a tight bikini top, and suspenders that go over her shoulders and accentuate her incredibly feminine form. She is also posed crouching down with one hand behind her to support her body. Her other hand is raised to her lips that emphasizes the flirtatious expression on her face. This figure also includes her green hat, which can be kept on her head or removed.

This collection of two figures from Banpresto features two color variations of Jewelry Bonney for fans to choose from. Although one can purchase both figures as a set, each figure has an individual listing as well. Both figures also have Bonney in the same pose: standing casually with one hand on her hip with the other passing through her long, pink hair as she shoots a confident glare to her side. The first figure has Bonney wearing a white tank top, red and black shorts, red knee-high stocking, black boots, and suspenders that run over her chest and shoulders. On the other hand, the other figure changes her outfit to one with a monochrome palette, exchanging the reds and yellows of her original design with black and white.

About Jewelry Bonney

Jewelry Bonney is the captain of the Bonney Pirates and one of the twelve members of the Worst Generation. The following is a short overview of her character.

Background

Jewelry Bonney and her crew were originally from the South Blue where they, much like many other pirates, followed one of the many paths along the Grand Line and ended up on the Sabaody Archipelago. In terms of personality, she is most known for her lack of manners and her unbelievable appetite, which might even be on par with Luffy’s. Furthermore, while she may be brash and crude most of the time, she does have a sense of when to keep a low profile. She even goes so far as to keep others from making a scene, if the situation calls for it. This can be seen in the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, when she tackles Zoro before he assaults a Celestial Dragon - a crime that would have thrown the area into complete chaos.

Special Abilities

Although it is currently unnamed, Jewelry Bonney has consumed a Devil Fruit that allows her to freely control the age of herself and others. She often uses this ability to shift her body from old to young and everything in-between, Jewelry Bonney can also use it to quickly incapacitate opponents by turning them so young or so old, they simply cannot fight - though they do retain any memories from before they were transformed. One downside of using this power on others, however, is that it seems to require physical contact with one of Bonney’s hands.

Other Important One Piece Characters

Although Jewelry Bonney bears ill-will against many characters in the One Piece series, she seems to have a particular distaste for two characters in particular: Luffy and Marshall D. Teach.

Monkey D. Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy is the main protagonist of One Piece and is mainly known for his endlessly hopeful attitude, desire to protect his crewmates and friends, and his seemingly insatiable appetite. After eating the Gum-Gum Fruit when he was a child, he honed his body and his abilities to one day set out as a pirate and recruit members of his crew. The combination of his laid-back nature and his burning desire to protect his allies often leads him into trouble, which can be seen in the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, where he assaults a Celestial Dragon in front of a large crowd. This act caused Jewelry Bonney to greatly dislike Luffy, as she knew that this group of islands would soon be swarmed with Marines, forcing Bonney and many other pirates to flee.

Marshall D. Teach

Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, is a character that has appeared at many different points in One Piece. He first appeared as a minor character in the Jaya Arc, but would later go on to shake the foundation of the world by causing the events that would lead to the Battle of Marineford. After stealing the Dark-Dark Fruit from the Whitebeard Pirates, Blackbeard sought out to defeat Portgas D. Ace and hand him over to the Marines. After the Whitebeard Pirates and the Marines exhausted their resources to fight each other, Blackbeard reappeared and, through currently unknown means, managed to steal the powers of the Quake-Quake Fruit, making him the only person to wield the powers of two Devil Fruits at once.
