Background
Ranma Saotome is the protagonist of Ranma 1/2 and a prideful, and fierce practitioner of Anything Goes Martial Arts. He attends Furinkan High School with his friends and has been training in martial arts ever since he was a child. One day during a training trip, he fell into an enchanted hot spring which turned him into a female. Unbeknodwnignly, the hot springs in the area magically turn people into whatever human or animal drowned there years prior. Now in his new form, as a girl, Ranma finds out that his father's second half is a Panda. furthermore, he learns that the enchantment can be remedied with a splash of cold water. Ranma continues attending his high school, as well as his martial arts training as he faces a series of rivals. He uses his ability to appear as a female to manipulate situations, and even provoke his love interest, Akane Tendo. He is a fierce martial artist who enjoys challenging people and often never backs down. He despises embarrassment due to his prideful nature and sets out to save Akane. Although he sometimes appears obnoxious, he sees himself as a rescuer of people due to his immense martial arts abilities.
