About Mei

Mei is one of the main heroes of the Overwatch game. She is an intelligent and kind climatologist who possesses various useful tools and is a damage hero in the game. Here is a brief overview of the character.

Background

Mei, also known as Dr. Mei-Ling Zhou is a cheerful and popular climatologist who specializes in climate manipulation. She was a member of a climate change initiative established by Overwatch and stationed in Antarctica. A polar storm caused a major malfunction in the facility and left her team stranded. The team was forced to put themselves in cryostasis in an attempt to survive the disastrous storm. She woke up nine years later finding that she was the only one who survived the cryostasis. She used what was left of the fallout to build an endothermic blaster and set up an antenna to receive communications from other members of Overwatch. She managed to leave Antarctica with the help of Winston, a fellow Overwatch teammate and set out to continue her research to tackle the worsening climate issue. She used her Endothermic Blaster in a series of events that helped rescue some cities around the world from attacks from omnics and terrorist groups. She is known to be intelligent and a somewhat climate-centric scientist.

Special Abilities

Mei has a unique set of weapons and abilities. Her climatologist background allows her to Cryo-Freeze herself for protection, and use an Endothermic Blaster to effectively freeze an enemy in combat. Moreover, one of her most useful abilities, Ice Wall creates an ice wall barrier to block attacks from enemies. Furthermore, Mei's Blizzard move unleashes a drone that modifies the weather to create a wild and strong snowstorm, damaging enemies that she attacks. Mei's Blizzard move can easily defeat opponents during a battle, making her one of the best 1-on-1 fighters in the game.
