The release of Persona 5: Royal changed everything Persona fans thought they knew about the latest main series release. In addition to new mechanics and an extended storyline, players got to experience new characters like the clumsy underclassman, Kasumi Yoshizawa. When viewing her design preview, fans suspected a return to the female protagonist model introduced in Persona 3. Instead, Kasumi entered the fray as a new confidant and Phantom Thief for the player to fall in love with. Lucrea Persona 5 Royal Kasumi Yoshizawa Figure

This figure from MegaHouse shows off Kasumi's newfound poise as the Phantom Thief Violet. Kasumi stands with her back arched and front foot pointed, typical of a trained gymnast. Her thigh-high boots emphasize her long legs, drawing the eye to the real metal chain securing the sheath at her hips. She wields the rapier in her right hand and turns it out wide to the side. The tight, form-fitting leotard shows off the contours of her toned core muscles. Interchangeable hand parts offer a cute peace sign option or an option to hold her mask. When wearing her mask, Kasumi looks the part of a master Phantom Thief with her doe eyes peering through. Without it, she still looks adorable with a sweet smile reflecting her true gentle nature.

About Kasumi Yoshizawa

Kasumi Yoshizawa is a new character introduced in the Persona 5 enhanced re-release, Persona 5 Royal. After enrolling at Shujin Academy, Kasumi eventually joins the Phantom Thieves on their quest to change the hearts of evil adults.

Background

Before the events of the game, Kasumi was an extremely talented gymnast. After her twin sister's sudden death, Kasumi faced a mental block that impeded her athletic ability. The protagonist starts the Faith Confidant link with Kasumi automatically after May 30th. Her confidant link allows the protagonist to evade enemy ambushes and attack enemies from a distance with a grappling hook. As the school year progresses, the Phantom Thieves start to suspect Kasumi may be keeping secrets from them. Players can only learn her full story by unlocking the third-semester events after the standard gameplay.

Abilities

As a gymnast, Kasumi possesses a high level of agility, flexibility, and strength. However, in her daily life, she can be clumsy and awkward at times. After unlocking her Persona, Cendrillon, Kasumi still cannot join the party until the third semester. As a playable character, Cendrillon specializes in Bless and Physical type attacks. Cendrillon's subsequent Persona, Vanadris, gains the ability Veil of Midnight, which increases the odds that an ally won't be downed by an attack.

As a new character in the Royal re-release, Kasumi mainly interacts with the main character and the other added characters.

Takuto Maruki

Takuto Maruki is a non-player character introduced in Persona 5: Royal. Shujin Academy hires him as a counselor to improve PR after Kamoshida's arrest. His patient, friendly demeanor makes him popular with the students, including those from other schools. However, deep down he suffers from grief and sorrow. He uses his own pain as a drive to prevent others from experiencing the same thing. He counsels Kasumi at the beginning of the game to help her deal with her own feelings of grief.

Goro Akechi

Goro Akechi is a significant character from the original Persona 5 game. A widely popular teen detective, Akechi works with the city police department in his spare time. His work involving the string of mental shutdowns leads him to investigate the Phantom Thieves. Initially, Akechi believes the Thieves may play a role in the mental shutdown and should be charged regardless of their level of involvement. Eventually, Akechi discovers the Phantom Thieves' true identities and shockingly joins them on one of the heists to observe them firsthand.

Sumire Yoshizawa

Sumire Yoshizawa is Kasumi's twin sister. Like her sister, Sumire practices gymnastics. However, she fails to perform as well as her sister and fades away in her shadow. She attempted to incorporate Kasumi's moves into her own routine to catch up but failed to pull them off. Kasumi tried to encourage Sumire to do things her own way and praised her subtle, delicate technique. Though sudden death interrupted their relationship, Sumire and Kasumi truly cared about each other despite the hidden resentment building between them.
