OtapediaRajang Monster Hunter World - Figures

The Monster Hunter franchise is a series of action role-playing video games that are generally developed and published by Capcom. The first entry in the series, simply titled Monster Hunter, was originally released for the PlayStation 2 in March 2004. The most recent game, Monster Hunter Rise, is currently expected to launch on the Nintendo Switch in March 2021. The main games in the Monster Hunter series have players tracking, trapping, and slaying deadly monsters that are many times larger and the humanoid players in order to harvest parts to craft better gear to take on even stronger creatures. Some fan-favorite monsters include Nergigante, Zinogre, and Glavenus.

One particularly notable monster is Rajang, a recurring monster that was first introduced in Monster Hunter 2 and most recently appeared in the Iceborne expansion of Monster Hunter World (MHW: Iceborne). Like many other monsters from the game, a variety of different figures recreate its intimidating features. A few of the most popular figures of Rajang include the “Capcom Figure Builder Monster Hunter Standard Model Plus Vol. 18”, the “Capcom Figure Builder Monster Hunter Standard Model Plus Ikari Ver. Kai Box Set (Re-run)”, and the “Creators Model Rajang”.

This particular collection includes figures of Safi’jiiva, Alatreon, Rajang, Seething Bazelgeuse, Silver Rathalos, Gold Rathian, and a clear version of Rajang as a bonus figure. Despite these figures being no taller than 150 mm (approx. 6”), they have a surprising amount of detail sculpted into them that still make them quite intimidating. As a set of blind-boxed figures, the contents of each box is randomly picked, meaning that duplicates are possible.

About Rajang

Rajang is a Fanged Beast that was first introduced in Monster Hunter 2, though its most recent appearance was in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

Background

Rajang has a vaguely primate-like appearance with massive forearms that it uses to support the weight of its body. Its large, curved horns and lion-like tail, however, separate it from other primates and gives it a strange, otherworldly look. Generally speaking, Rajang is incredibly aggressive and territorial, leading it to attack and defeat nearly anything that crosses its path.

Special Abilities

One of Rajang’s most unique abilities is its lightning-based attacks. These attacks can come in the form of a beam, ball, or blast, but they all are fired from Rajang’s mouth. That said, each one is quite fast and deadly, making the Rajang a difficult monster to defeat. Furthermore, Rajang also has an incredibly flashy enraged state. This state causes a Rajang’s fur to turn gold and results in the monster becoming even more powerful and aggressive.

Other Important Monster Hunter World Characters

Although Rajang can get into turf wars with a variety of different monsters, only a few can survive an assault from a Rajang and survive. Two such monsters are the Savage Deviljho and the Ruiner Nergigante.

Savage Deviljho

The Savage Deviljho is a variant of the Deviljho that was first introduced in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Like the standard Deviljho, this variant has massive jaws that it can use to crush its enemies with. Furthermore, the Savage Deviljho can use its Dragon element in more advanced ways than the standard version, making it quite a formidable foe.

Ruiner Nergigante

This monster is a deadlier variant of the standard Nergigante. The most prominent difference between the Ruiner Nergigante and the standard version is the tougher metallic spikes that grow in place of bone spikes. Of course, most other aspects of the Ruiner variant are also improved, like its strength, durability, and intelligence.
