About Professor X (Charles Xavier)

The Commander in chief of the X-Men, and holder of the strongest brain in the universe, Professor X is not one to mess with! Here is a more in-depth look into his life.

Background

This man has had a traumatic life even before he knew about his telepathic powers. His father died in a tragic accident, and his mother was about to remarry. However, Charles’ telepathic powers began kicking in, and he knew his stepfather was only marrying his mother for the money. He also found out that his stepfather was abusive towards his mother and stepbrother. After Charles’ mother passed away, his stepfather and brother fought which made his stepfather’s lab equipment explode, killing him. Charles knew of his telepathic powers from age ten, he graduated from Harvard at age 16. There he met Moira, another mutant in hiding and they fell in love.

That was when Professor X was drafted in the Korean war, and Moira’s love for him faded. After he returned from war and graduated, he inherited his family’s wealth and began traveling. During his travels, he met his first evil mutant and found others who didn’t share his vision. Professor X’s vision being happy relations between all mutants and humans. Then, he found an alien, who was scouting for their invasion of Earth. He battled this alien and thwarted its plans, and in revenge the alien caused a huge rock to fall and crush his legs. While recovering he met his love, Amelia, who was also a mutant. After that, they traveled until he pursued his dream and founded the “School for Gifted Youngsters”, or the X-Men.

Special Abilities

Professor X has the strongest mind in the Marvel Universe. These powers make him an Alpha-level mutant, meaning he has many different powers including telepathy, mind blast, and even telekinesis! He also is omnilingual, meaning he can communicate with any being, regardless of the language barrier.

Other Important X-Men Characters

Professor X has many interactions, giving a wide array of allies and enemies. He often interacts with his step-brother, who became Juggernaut. Professor X also has dealings with Jean Grey, Scott Summers, and Max Eisenhardt.

Cain Marko - Juggernaut

Cain was an abusive step-brother to Charles during their childhood because Cain’s father favored Charles. When Cain found out about Charles’ abilities, he thought that Professor X had invaded his father’s mind to make him favor Charles. It would be fate that they were both drafted into the same Korean War unit. Cain tried deserting in the middle of a firefight and Charles chased after him to stop him. During their flight, they found an ancient temple and Cain took a ruby that turned him into Juggernaut. Wearing his helmet that prevented psionic influence, he was nearly unbeatable until the X-Men tricked him into captivity.

Jean Grey

Jean Grey was Professor X’s first patient. She arrived catatonic, unable to speak after a tragedy of her friend dying right in front of her. He discovered that she was telepathic too, so he used that to help her recover and eventually join the X-Men. There she would fall in love with Scott Summers, aka Cyclops. Before that many things happened, she was subjected to the will of a galactic power that took over her body! The will of Phoenix actually married cyclops, while Jean’s body was in a catalyst in the Bermuda triangle. Eventually, they fell in love and had a child, shortly after Jean Grey would die.

Scott Summers - Cyclops

The man who would be the team leader for the X-Men and even run the “School for Gifted Youngsters”. Cyclops not only has a tragic past but has been manipulated almost his whole life by Mister Strange. From having the love of his life switched with a clone so Mister Strange could steal his child to worse! The first good thing to happen to him was when Professor X bid him to join the X-Men. There he made friends and found love, in addition to having a place to use his power for good!

Max Eisenhardt - Magneto

One of Professor X’s first friends during his original travels, they met in Israel and fought Baron Von Strucker. The only issue was that Max had a different vision from Professor X. Being a holocaust survivor, Max thought that humanity would always subdue the minorities. From this thought pattern, Max would become Magneto after the tragic death of his daughter. Magneto believed that mutants were superior to humans and that they should take control. Magneto would attempt to take over the human race and subdue them before they could do it to mutant-kind. He would go on to attempt to overtake every world government, to protect all mutants. His role as a villain and mutant hero would switch as time went on.
