Xenosaga is a video game series developed by Monolith Soft and published primarily by Namco. The series revolves around role-playing game mechanics, in which the player takes the role of a character within the story and controls their interactions with the world around them. Xenosaga is part of the larger Xeno metaseries, which was created by Tetsuya Takahashi. The premise of the story follows a group of characters as they fight against an alien race known as the Gnosis. They fight against the Gnosis as well as other human factions, all of the fighting for control over a godlike power. The first release of the Xenosaga series was Xenosaga Episode I in 2002. About KOS-MOS
KOS-MOS is an armored robot with the appearance of a young girl. She is a fully outfitted combat weapon with artificial intelligence created to fight the Gnosis. Here is some more information about her.
Background
KOS-MOS is composed of exclusively mechanical parts, with her power coming from U-DO from the original Zohar. She was developed by the First R&D Division of Vector Industries, created by Kevin Winnicot with administrator Shion Uzuki. KOS-MOS was the peak of the project, the final, perfected android to fight against the Gnosis. While she is entirely mechanical, KOS-MOS is equipped with a simulated personality. Despite this, though, she still often appears to be emotionless. While she does not engage in any illogical human thoughts, she is able to communicate and convey her role to humans.
Special Abilities
KOS-MOS’s abilities far exceed most others. She is strong beyond compare, with superhuman strength and speed as well as inhuman durability. KOS-MOS is also able to morph parts of her body into various melee weapons and energy projectiles. She shoots specialized weapons with deadly accuracy from both short and long ranges. KOS-MOS is critical for attacking the Gnosis, for she possesses an ability that allows her to draw the Gnosis to her plane of existence in an instant.

Shion Uzuki
Shion Uzuki is the main protagonist of the Xenosaga series. Shion fights against the Gnosis, stopping at nothing in order to save the universe and protect the world against the Ormus. She is a computer scientist and programmer, and she was partially responsible for the construction of KOS-MOS, which was meant to fight against the Gnosis. Shion is highly intelligent, constantly searching for knowledge and answers to the things around her. Her passion fuels her ideals, driving her to never give up no matter what.
