Saga of Tanya the Evil is a Japanese light novel series written by Carlo Zen and illustrated by Shinobu Shinotsuki. In Japan, it is known as Youjo Senki, which literally translates to “The Military Chronicles of a Little Girl”. The light novel began serialization in 2012 online and has since received a manga adaptation as well as an anime adaptation. There is also a film based on the animated television series. As of April of 2018, the light novels and manga have sold a combined 3 million printed copies. About Tanya von Degurechaff
Tanya von Degurechaff is the main protagonist of Youjo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil. She is an alternate universe reincarnation of a salaryman who was murdered. Here is some more information about Tanya.
Background
In 2013, an unnamed atheist Japanese salaryman was killed by a subordinate who he had fired at work. At his moment of passing, the man meets a godlike entity that condemns him for not having faith. The salaryman still rejects the existence of this god, mocking it and calling it ‘Being X’. The godlike entity then chooses to reincarnate the man in a world of terror and turmoil, where he would be forced to turn to the god for help. Thus began the life of Tanya von Degurechaff, with the same cold, atheistic heart as the salaryman.
Special Abilities
Tanya does not have a lot of physical strength. However, she makes up for this lack of physical strength with her magical enhancement spells. She can handle a rifle just like any other soldier, as well as use her magic to quickly evade attacks. Tanya must at times rely on Being X, using Elenium Type 95, and praying in order to enhance her abilities.

At first, Erich strongly dislikes Tanya, denying her any right to fight or gain any promotions for her fighting prowess. However, as time progresses von Rerugen begins to see that the two see eye to eye about strategic plans for ending the war. Over time, the two come to an agreement, albeit shaky, and begin to understand one another better.
