OtapediaSir Crocodile One Piece - Figures

The One Piece manga franchise is one of the most well-known series of all time and made its first debut in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997. With such an expansive and long-running series, it should be of no surprise that the series has a similarly impressive amount of merchandise that fans can purchase. Collectible figures are a particularly notable type of merchandise, as they recreate many fan-favorite characters from the One Piece series. One such character is Sir Crocodile, a former Warlord of the sea. Out of the small handful of figures that recreate Crocodile’s design, a few of the most popular include the “Portrait of Pirates One Piece Mas-Maximum Sir Crocodile”, the “Figuarts Zero One Piece Paramount War Sir Crocodile”, and the “One Piece Abiliators: Crocodile”.

This figure from MegaHouse shows Crocodile standing confidently as he begins shifting into sand. His face shows an arrogant smirk as a large cigar sticks out of his mouth. He is also posed with his hook hand resting at his side as he holds the opposite hand out. Most of the right side of his body is partially turned into sand, with his abdomen and right leg being the most transformed. The sand swirling around him also adds some extra complexity to the figure as well.

About Sir Crocodile

Crocodile is a former Warlord and acted as the main antagonist of the Alabasta Saga. The following passages are a brief look into his character.

Background

In the early days of his pirate career, Crocodile, like many others, had dreams of one day becoming the Pirate King. After making it into the New World and gaining both power and influence, the World Government gave him a position as a Warlord. With his new position, he dared to challenge Whitebeard, but was easily defeated. With his dreams crushed, he made his way to Alabasta and formed a mafia-like group named the Baroque Works. His new goal was to find Poneglyphs and obtain Pluton, an ancient warship that would give him unparalleled military power. Luffy, however, managed to put a stop to his plans, and Crocodile was sent to Impel Down for several years, only to be freed by Luffy in his attempt to save Ace.

Special Abilities

One of Crocodile’s most powerful abilities is his Devil Fruit, the Sand-Sand Fruit. This Fruit gives its user the ability to turn their body into sand at will and can also dehydrate any organic material in the matter of seconds. Crocodile uses these abilities to great effect and is almost invulnerable to most physical damage, assuming he is aware of the threat. His one major weakness is being wet, as it makes it impossible for him to shift into sand. Aside from his Devil Fruit, Crocodile also has his hook, which is both incredibly durable and has a deadly poison that is held in the hidden inside layer.

Other Important One Piece Characters

There are two rather important characters with connections to Crocodile: Nico Robin and Nefertari Vivi. The following is a brief introduction to their respective characters.

Nico Robin

Nico Robin is an archaeologist and a member of the Straw Hat Pirates. When she was a child, she learned how to read Poneglyphs, which is a skill that is designated as forbidden knowledge by the World Government. As such, she has been on the run from the Marines for most of her life. After meeting Crocodile, she was offered protection from the Marines in exchange for joining his Baroque Works group. After Crocodile’s defeat, Robin would later join Luffy and the Straw Hats on their adventure to the end of the Grand Line.

Nefertari Vivi

Vivi, who was first introduced as a member of Baroque Works named Miss Wednesday, is the princess of Alabasta and an ally of the Straw Hats, albeit not publically. After Luffy and the Straw Hats display their strength and kind-hearted nature, Vivi reveals that she is a spy infiltrating Baroque Works in order to put a stop to the civil war currently ravaging Alabasta. She also reveals that Crocodile is the man behind Baroque Works, eventually leading to Luffy and his crew taking him down. When Crocodile is defeated, Vivi returns to her role as a princess and stays behind in Alabasta while the Straw Hats move on to the next island.
