About Ainz Ooal Gown: Background

Ainz Ooal Gown was initially known as player Momonga in YGGDRASIL. Satoru Suzuki played this character. As a child, Satoru lost his mother and vividly recalled the events leading to her death. He did not have a strong relationship with his father and had not experienced any fatherly love growing up.

Due to his poor upbringing, Satoru finds himself without friends or family and dedicates his life to DMMO-RPG and YGGDRASIL. His dedication runs deeply and notably uses most of his earnings on the games. Later on, Touch Me, a friend of Momonga, recommends him to become the new leader and hence creating the guild "Ainz Ooal Gown." Thanks to Momonga's strong leadership skills, the guild can cooperate and conquer the Great Tomb of Nazarick and acquire the World Item, "Throne of Kings," after clearing the dungeon to obtain the item, the guild decides to use the dungeon as their base.

Momonga's dedication to the game is especially seen when many of his guildmates leave and give their equipment to Momonga. Unfortunately, Momonga has seen many players leave the game due to real-world issues. Despite this, he would carefully store his former members' equipment and create Avataras to recognize his former guildmates. He would also stay behind and go on solo hunts and farm to maintain the Great Tomb of Nazarick. With few friends in the real world, Momonga held substantial importance in the friendships he made within the game and seemed to maintain the dungeon with hopes his guildmates would one day return.

About Ainz Ooal Gown: Abilities

Ainz is very talented regarding spell learning. Most level 100 players can only learn 300 spells, while Ainz was able to memorize 718 different spells using the unique ability "Dark Wisdom." Due to this, he has a vast range of magical knowledge. In addition, he is well-versed in combat, and despite his class and abilities not being suited for PvP, he can win against PvP-optimized players. After being taught by Punitto Moe about fighting, he also grew as a player. The depth of his knowledge in varying aspects helps him become a highly-skilled military leader and advisor. So much that Nei Baraja and Gustav Montagnes go to him for advice to reclaim their occupied lands and kingdom.

He is brilliant and makes use of his vast knowledge. Ainz acts somewhat cautious in the New World and maps out a plan before engaging in combat. This allows him to stay a step ahead of his opponents and gain an advantage. He uses the equipment left by the guildmates and will use them accordingly.

Other Important Overlord Characters

Despite not having any real friends, Ainz has made many close friends throughout the games. In particular, he is fond of his guildmates and still thinks very fondly of them despite them leaving.

Touch Me

Touch Me is one of the founders and former members of Ainz Ooal Gown. He was also considered the strongest warrior in YGGDRASIL. They first met when Touch Me saved Ainz from being Pked. Ainz greatly respects Touch Me and states that he would be where he was if it wasn't for him. Touch Me is the one who pushed Ainz to become the leader of the guild.

Albedo

Albedo and Ainz first "meet" when Ainz changes Albedo's settings as a joke. He changes the settings to make her fall in love with him. However, he regrets his decision because he feels that he ruined Tabula's, Albedo's creator's, work. He also regrets it as he cannot fully trust what she says, and he feels that she is only nice to him due to him altering her personality. His lack of confidence is rooted in his inexperience with women.

Tabula Smaragdina

Tabula is a former guild member of Ainz Ooal Gown. The two are close due to both being in the same guild. The strong trust between the two is notably seen when the guild was first created. Tabula initially thought that if the guild was run by someone other than Ainz, it would fall apart, and hence wanted to join a different guild with Ainz. Tabula is described as obsessed with his NPC creations and alters one of Tabula's NPC settings. However, Ainz is filled with remorse and finds it hard to face him anymore due to this incident.
