About Tracer

Tracer is a time-jumping Overwatch agent and is the youngest person to enter Overwatch's experimental flight program.

About Tracer : Background

Tracer, real name Lena Oxton, grew up in London. She was fearless and joined the Royal Air Force as a test pilot as she wanted to drive faster. Her nickname was born as a result of her bold piloting skills. While in the Royal Air Force, she was handpicked to test the Slipstream. However, due to a malfunction, the aircraft disappeared. Tracer was presumed dead. However, she reappeared months later. She was suffering from chronal disassociation and would disappear for hours and days. She was also unable to maintain a physical form. While many scientists were puzzled over Tracer's situation, Winston was able to design a chronal accelerator which helped keep her in the present and control her time.

Tracer finds inspiration from Tekhartha Mondatta and believes that sometimes people need to do what is right even if it is out of the law, and participates in Overwatch. After Winston designed the chronal accelerator, she was able to become a standard soldier for Overwatch. Her first activity as an Overwatch member was during the Null Sector takeover. She convinced Jack Morrison to send a strike force to England and was able to defeat the Null Sector's forces.

About Tracer: Abilities

Tracer is a closed-range hero and is able to move at extreme speeds and deal significant damage to a single target. In addition, she can travel quickly and be able to outflank enemies rapidly.

Her choice of weapons is the Pulse Pistols. She is able to rapidly shoot with both pistols to deal immense damage. However, the pistols have a cone of fire and heavy damage falloff, hence unideal for long-range shoot-offs. Another notable ability is Blink. Tracer is widely known for this ability, and it allows her to teleport in the direction she moves in. This creates unpredictability and enables her to surprise her enemies and make a sudden attack. This also allows her to move to areas she otherwise could not reach with a jump.

Other iconic abilities are her Recall and Pulse Bomb. Recall is Tracer's ability to rewind to three seconds in the past. This allows her to reset her health and position. Pulse Bomb is Tracer's ultimate ability and allows her to throw a bomb forward. The bomb will then stick to the surface it hits first. After a short delay, the bomb will explode, dealing immense damage to those in the area. The bomb can also stick to the enemies, providing the opportunity to deal damage to a wide range of enemies. One downside of this ultimate ability is Tracer herself can also be damaged in the explosion.

Other Important Overwatch Characters

In the Overwatch, there are various characters, each with their unique backgrounds and abilities. The unique characters are the reason for the game's immense popularity.

Emily

Emily is not a character that features in the game but has been depicted to be in a relationship with Tracer. Tracer has been described as picking a Christmas gift for Emily but could not buy one due to some circumstances. However, a gift Tracer she received from a small girl turns out to be a dark green scarf Emily had wanted. The two continue to stay together even after Overwatch disbands.

Mercy

Mercy, also known as Angela Ziegler, joined Overwatch and became head of medical research. She uses nano-biology to help heal injuries and illnesses. She is the person who developed the Valkyrie suit to help use the technology on the battlefield. Mercy and Tracer were both in Overwatch at the same time.

D.Va

Hana Song, also known as D.Va, was a reigning gamer and a world champion. She was drafted into the MEKA program to help control the MEKA drones. MEKA's required pilots and recruited gamers, as gamers often hold very high reflexes and instincts necessary to operate the MEKA system. Tracer and D.Va were both a part of Overwatch around the same period.
