OtapediaMarisa Kirisame Touhou Project - Nendoroid

Out of the many series of bullet hell games in Japan, no series is more widespread and well-known than the Touhou Project. Due to ZUN and Team Shanghai Alice's lenient rules on fan works, the community surrounding the original games has helped make the Touhou Project as massive as it is today. Because of this success, plenty of self-published and company-produced merchandise has been produced since the beginning of the franchise in 1997. One such example would be Good Smile Project and their Nendoroid line, which has recreated over a dozen different Touhou Project characters throughout the years. Among the many different Touhou Project Nendoroids, Marisa Kirisame is notably popular and has three separate releases. These releases include the "Nendoroid Marisa Kirisame | Touhou Project", the "Nendoroid Touhou Project Marisa Kirisame 2.0", and the "Nendoroid Swacchao! Touhou Project Marisa Kirisame".

Nendoroid Marisa Kirisame | Touhou Project

This figure of Marisa was one of the first original one hundred Nendoroids ever released and has Marisa wearing her classic black maid-style uniform with a white apron, black shoes, and her iconic black wizard hat with a big white ribbon. Other features like Marisa's blond, braided hair, golden eyes, and so on are also faithfully recreated. In addition, this set also includes Marisa's witch's broom, her Eight Trigrams Furnace, and an extra face plate with a grinning expression on it. Her hat is also removable which, when combined with the extra pieces and the figure's posability, allows for an impressive amount of customizability.

This figure takes Marisa from the previous example and gives her an updated and more refined design. Her black and white dress is more or less identical, though details like the wavy patterns along the edges of it are greatly improved. Other features like her hair and eyes are also updated to match her future appearances more accurately. In addition to her broom and Eight Trigram Furnace, this figure also includes a red spellbook and a teacup. Unlike the previous figure, this updated version also comes with special connectors that will allow Marisa to stand on her broom as it flies.

Nendoroid Swacchao! Touhou Project Marisa Kirisame

This figure is the most recent Nendoroid release for Marisa and takes her updated Nendoroid design and sculpts her in a sitting position. Like other Nendoroids in the Swacchao! series, this figure comes with a brown chair with collapsible back legs. While the figure can be placed on any flat surface with all of the chair legs up, flipping the back legs allows its user to set the figure on the edge of a shelf, desk, or other surfaces.

About Marisa Kirisame

Marisa Kirisame is a recurring character from the Touhou Project series and made her first debut in the second official game, Story of Eastern Wonderland.

About Marisa Kirisame: Background

Unlike most characters living in Gensokyo, Marisa Kirisame is an ordinary human. That said, she is a very hard worker who has studied how to use magic and eventually became one of the most proficient human magicians the series has seen. Although she is generally very social and friendly toward most people, Marisa's tomboyish mannerisms and tendency to lie cause others to see her as brash and rambunctious at times. That said, Marisa does genuinely care about those living in Gensokyo, whether they be human, yokai, or otherwise.

About Marisa Kirisame: Abilities

Marisa's specialties when it comes to magic often focus on attacks based on light and heat, which have multiple uses both in and outside of combat. When fighting against an opponent, her attacks are often powerful, fast, and flashy. Her spell card, Love Sign Master Spark, takes the form of a massive laser and is powered by her Eight Trigram Furnace. Marisa can also use her Eight Trigram Furnace as a stovetop or a flamethrower, should the need arise. In addition, Marisa is also very competent when it comes to flying and is quite proud when it comes to speed.

Other Important Touhou Project Characters

While the Touhou Project is known for its massive cast of characters, two of the most popular aside from Marisa herself include Reimu Hakurei and Cirno.

Reimu Hakurei

Reimu Hakurei is the sole shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine, which is one of the landmarks of Gensokyo that is responsible for keeping it sealed from the Outside World. Because of her responsibilities as a shrine maiden, Reimu often acts as a mediator for Gensokyo and the Outside World. She often ends up being the one to resolve any issues that threaten the balance between the two worlds. That said, Reimu is also very true to her desires, often causing her to struggle with balancing her responsibilities with what she wants to do.

Cirno

Cirno is a fairy who is known for her childish personality and her ability to manipulate heat and create ice. While she is considerably strong compared to other fairies, Cirno is rather weak when compared to other characters like Reimu and Marisa. As a boss character, she generally appears early on and has spell cards that some say are the easiest in the series to clear. One of her hobbies is watching frogs that she froze to thaw and come back to life, though most of them end up shattering before the ice melts.
