Roxas Kingdom Hearts - Figures

The Kingdom Hearts series is a popular action role-playing game published by Square Enix and first released for the PlayStation 2 in March 2002. The most recent title, Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, was released for various consoles on November 11th, 2020. The series acts much like a collaboration between Square Enix and Disney, as a wide range of characters from both Final Fantasy and Disney titles appear throughout the entire series. Although the series largely follows Sora’s journeys through many different Disney worlds to stop Organization XIII, Roxas continues to be a popular character among fans - perhaps due in part to his close connection to Sora. As such, merchandise inspired by Roxas’ character sells quite well among fans, with one of the most popular types of merchandise being collective figures. Play Arts Kai: Kingdom Hearts II Roxas Figure

This figure from Square Enix recreates Roxas’ character as a fully articulated, high-quality action figure that can be posed to recreate any fan’s favorite scene from the game. In this figure, Roxas wears the outfit he is first shown wearing when he is introduced in Kingdom Hearts II. This outfit includes a black zip-up undershirt with an X-shaped zipper, an off-white vest, and a pair of black and grey pants. This figure also includes a variety of accessories, like two Keyblades, two pairs of hands, and some sea-salt ice cream.

Play Arts Kai Kingdom Hearts II Roxas Organization XIII Ver. Figure

Much like the previously mentioned item, this figure takes Roxas’ design and turns it into an articulated 3-D model. The main difference between this figure and the previous one, however, is the outfit Roxas wears. While the standard Roxas figure uses his classic outfit, this figure has Roxas wearing his black Organization XIII robes. This outfit is recreated in great detail and is fully covered in realistic creases and folds. Like the standard figure, this Organization XIII version of Roxas also includes 2 different Keyblades and 2 pairs of hands, but this figure also includes a hooded version of Roxas’ head, which obscures most of his face.

Mystery Minis: Kingdom Hearts Figures

This collection of blind-boxed figures includes a variety of different characters from the Kingdom Hearts franchise. In total, there are thirteen different figures to collect. A few characters in this collection include King Mickey, Riku, Sora, Kairi, Axel, and, of course, Roxas. There are also two different variations of Roxas in this collection: one with Roxas as an Organization XIII member and the other in his classic outfit.

About Roxas

Roxas is a Nobody that was created when Sora released his heart to allow Kairi to wake up at the end of Kingdom Hearts. He is introduced at the very beginning of Kingdom Hearts II and is the main playable character for the first section of the game.

Background

The moment that Sora released his heart in Kingdom Hearts, Roxas appeared in Twilight Town and was found by Xemnas, who gave him his name. Since he was confused and had nowhere to call home, he followed Xemnas and joined Organization XIII. During his time in the Organization, he becomes friends with Axel and Xion - two other members of the Organization. At the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II, however, his memories of the Organization have been erased and he lives a normal life in a digital version of Twilight Town. When Nobodies begin invading the virtual world, Roxas is forced to come to terms that he must return to Sora, his original body.

Special Abilities

As Sora’s Nobody, Roxas has the ability to dual-wield two Keyblades at once, a rare skill that only few can use. With the power of two Keyblades, Roxas can be an incredibly difficult opponent to defeat. Furthermore, Roxas can also use rays of light to attack his enemies as well, making him even more formidable. As a member of Organization XII, Roxas also has control over Samurai Nobodies.

Other Important Kingdom Hearts Characters

Throughout the series, many characters interact with Roxas. Two characters from the series that are especially important to Roxas are Sora and Axel.

Sora

Sora is the main protagonist of the Kingdom Hearts series and is the one who unknowingly creates Roxas after he sacrifices his heart and turned into a Heartless. Although he is brave, courageous, and optimistic, Sora often displays a sense of childlike wonder and naiveté. That said, he cares deeply for his friends and is never afraid to throw himself into danger if it means that he can help them.

Axel

Axel is the eighth member of Organization XIII and acted much like a mentor figure for Roxas when he first joined the Organization. He is known for his spiky red hair, fire-based attacks, and sarcastic remarks. As Axel and Roxas spent more time with each other, they became best friends, though this friendship eventually caused Axel a great deal of distress, as Roxas would return to Sora, who had no recollection of Axel.
