Zidane Tribal Final Fantasy (FF9) - Figures
Final Fantasy is a franchise that is known around the world as a series of role-playing games that fuse medieval magic and futuristic science to create unique worlds for players to explore. The ninth main entry of the series, Final Fantasy IX, was released for the PlayStation in July 2000 and was both developed and produced by Squaresoft (which would later before Square Enix). Since Final Fantasy was already a well-established series, fans were already eager to collect various kinds of merchandise before the game even launched. One such kind of merchandise is the collectible figure, which recreates many different characters that appear in the franchise. This is especially true for Zidane Tribal, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy IX. Out of the few figures that recreate his character, some of the most popular include the “Bring Arts Final Fantasy IX Zidane Tribal & Garnet Til Alexandros XVII Set”, the “Trading Arts Kai Final Fantasy IX Zidane Action Figure”, and the “Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia Trading Arts Box Set”.

About Zidane Tribal
Zidane Tribal is the main protagonist in Final Fantasy IX and is a thief from Tantalus Theater Troupe that was given the mission to kidnap the princess of Alexandria.
Background
Although he did not know his true origins for most of his life, Zidane was an artificially created being called Genome that was sent to the planet Gaia by one of the antagonists, Garland. Kuja, another Genome previously created by Garland, was upset that Garland created another Genome, leading him to leave Zidane on Gaia and abandoning him. Zidane, now alone at the age of four, was taken in by Baku, the leader of the Tantalus Theater Troupe. Here, Zidane was raised as a thief and was eventually given the mission to kidnap the princess of Alexandria, setting off the story of Final Fantasy IX.
Special Abilities
As a thief, Zidane’s weapons of choice include daggers and thief swords. Although it is not completely unique to Zidane, he is the only permanent character in the party with the “Steal” skill, which allows Zidane to take items from enemies. He also has a variety of support Skills that can change depending on what equipment he is currently using. In his Trance state, these Skills are replaced with Dynes, which are powerful physical attacks that use MP to use.
Other Important Final Fantasy IX Characters
Through his adventures in Final Fantasy IX, Zidane will meet a variety of different characters, with two particularly notable examples being Vivi Ornitier and Garnet.
Vivi Ornitier
Vivi Ornitier, much like Zidane, is an artificially created black mage that finds himself in Alexandria to watch the Tantalus Theater Troupe perform. After a series of unfortunate happenings, Vivi accidentally reveals the identity of princess Garnet, causing the theater to erupt into chaos. After escaping the commotion, Zidane finds Vivi and asks him to help find Garnet, though he initially hesitates due to his shy, meek personality. Eventually, he agrees to help and, as time goes on, Zidane becomes much like an older brother to Vivi.
Garnet
Garnet, whose full name is Garnet Til Alexandros XVII, is the princess of Alexandria and the current heir to the throne. Though she is the current heir, Garnet is not the biological child of the Queen. Garnet was originally from a tribe of summoners in Madian Sari before it was destroyed. After she is adopted into the Alexandria Royal Family, she notices her mother acting strangely, eventually causing her to run away from the castle. While traveling with Zidane and his group, she takes on the alias “Dagger” to help protect her identity.
