OtapediaPower Armor Fallout 4 - Figures

Fallout 4 is an entry in Bethesda’s Fallout series that was released for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in November 2015. Similar to other games in the franchise, Fallout 4 is set several hundred years in the future after the Earth is all but destroyed in the nuclear Great War. The gameplay of Fallout 4 is similar to other recent entries in the series and has players exploring the ruins of an irradiated America in either a first- or third-person perspective. As an entry to a franchise that is already well-established, merchandise was produced to help market the release of Fallout 4. Power Armor is a recurring item from the series that is instantly recognizable to fans and is often used in cover art for the series. Since it is so recognizable, a lot of merchandise is inspired by its design, with one notable type being the collectible figure. Out of the many different figures of Power Armor, some of the most popular include the “POP! Games No. 78: Fallout 4 - T-60 Power Armor”, the “Legacy Collection: Fallout - Power Armor”, and the “Fallout 4: T-45 Power Armor 1/6 Scale Figure”.

POP! Games No. 78: Fallout 4 - T-60 Power Armor Figure

This figure from Funko’s ever-popular Pop! line features one of the models of Power Armor that appears in Fallout 4, the T-60 model. Like most figures from Funko, this recreation of the T-60 model takes its large, imposing design and shrinks it down to a tiny, chibi-style figure. That said, the figure still retains many aspects of the Power Armor’s design, like its distinct helmet and sturdy armor. The figure is also equipped with an assault rifle, which it carries with both hands in front of its chest.

The Legacy Collection: Fallout - Power Armor Figure

This action figure, also from Funko, deviates from the chibi-style of their Pop! collection and uses proportions that are more accurate to the original design of the Power Armor. Furthermore, this figure is also articulated, allowing users to move limbs in a variety of different poses. It is painted with a metallic grey and comes with a powerful laser rifle to complete its intimidating appearance.

Fallout 4: T-45 Power Armor 1/6 Scale Figure

This figure from Threezero is an item for the more devoted fans of the Fallout series. The main appeal of this scale figure is its incredible attention to detail, from the wear and tear found on its armor, to the intricate parts that make up each piece of the suit. Although most scale figures sacrifice articulation for detail, this figure has the best of both worlds, meaning that it is both highly detailed and has over thirty points of articulation. This figure also includes an LED light, a laser rifle, and a male head underneath the removable helmet.

About Power Armor

Powered combat infantry armor, or simply Power Armor, is a recurring item that the player can come across in every major entry in the Fallout series.

Background

Power Armor was originally created by the American government before the nuclear destruction caused by the Great War. The armor was heralded for its ability to resist smaller arms while bolstering the strength of individuals enough for them to wield heavier weapons on the battlefield. After the Great War, however, units of Power Armor became incredibly hard to come by and maintain, especially for smaller factions. As such, only well-established groups with connections to the military like the Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave have considerable stockpiles of Power Armor to use.

Notable Characteristics

Although Power Armor originally used energy cells as a source of power, the number of cells needed to keep the armor running was quickly deemed unsustainable, leading to a miniature fusion reactor being built into the suits themselves. Like its name would imply, Power Armor provides a considerable amount of defense - with the standard set of T-45 Power Armor providing 500 points of physical damage reduction alone.

Other Important Fallout 4 Characters

There are many different characters in Fallout 4 that can make use of the various kinds of Power Armor, but two particularly notable characters are the protagonist, the Sole Survivor, and one of the companion characters, Paladin Danse.

Sole Survivor

The Sole Survivor is the character the player controls in Fallout 4. Nearly every aspect of them is customizable, from their appearance to their strengths and weaknesses, to the various factions they can join in their adventures. That said, their origin is always the same. After nuclear detonations started happening, the Sole Survivor abandons their new robotic butler, Codsworth and takes their family to the nearby Vault - a shelter built to survive the devastation of nuclear war. Over two-hundred years of cryogenic stasis, the Sole Survivor finds that they are the only person left alive in the Vault.

Paladin Danse

Danse is a member of the Brotherhood of Steel with the rank of Paladin - one of the highest ranks one can be granted. The Sole Survivor can find Danse by receiving a transmission on their Pip-Boy in the Lexington area. After helping him out by completing a few quests, the player can join the Brotherhood of Steel and have Danse join them as a companion. As a Paladin, Danse has easy access to a suit of Power Armor, making him quite formidable to many roaming the wastelands of America.
