OtapediaSuper Saiyan 4 (SSJ4) Gogeta Dragon Ball GT - Figures

When Dragon Ball Z ended in 1996, fans were left hanging. There was a huge demand for more content despite Toriyama having already finished the manga series. Toei Studios took it upon themselves to continue the Dragon Ball series with the animation only Dragon Ball GT. Dragon Ball GT was widely panned by critics and fans though for its overly poppy and fun nature compared to the final arcs of Dragon Ball Z. Midway through the tone changed and the series became a lot more serious. While maintaining its comedic nature and relatively light theme, more serious enemies were introduced such as Super 17, Baby, and the Shadow Dragons. The final Shadow Dragon Shenron was the most dangerous adversary the Z-Warriors had faced up until that point. Even with the new Super Saiyan 4 form, Goku and Vegeta were no match for Shenron, until they fused. Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta was born from fusion. Here are three figures that show his greatness, “Banpresto’s Choujin Giga Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta”, “SCultures Big Figure Colosseum 7 Special Gogeta” and “Ultimate Fusion Big Bang Kamehameha Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta”.

Choujin Giga Dragon Ball GT Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta Figure

The Super Saiyan 4 form is amazing. The most powerful character to have ever used it so far (excluding Dragon Ball Super Heroes) is the fusion of Goku and Vegeta, Gogeta. Used while fighting against Omega Shenron when even Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta didn’t stand a chance. The weight of his body and movement is clear in Banpresto’s Choujin Giga Gogeta. The flowing blue sash and the folds of his clothes give a strong impression of a powerful movement. The wound-up fists are also indicative of such a powerful attack.

Dragon Ball GT SCultures Big Figure Colosseum 7 Special Gogeta Figure

Being part Vegeta and part Goku, Gogeta has access to both Saiyans’ attacks and techniques, often mixing them to create original attacks. There has not, however, in the whole history of Dragon Ball been an attack as original as the Kamehameha; or rather, the bluff Kamehameha. Surrounding Omega Shenron with clones, all charging up the destructive beam attack, only for it to end in a party popper. This leaves Omega Shenron covered in streamers and confetti, initially bemused but becoming very quickly insulted and angry. At 5.5” Gogeta is non-articulated, but with such a classic scene in the anime, this is clearly the best possible pose.

Dragon Ball GT Ultimate Fusion Big Bang Kamehameha Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta Figure

The Big Bang Kamehameha, an excellent move. Combining the forces of Goku’s Kamehameha and Vegeta’s Big Bang Attack, both deadly in their own right, this is an astoundingly powerful technique. First used on Omega Shenron after breaking the negative energy veil around Earth by transforming Omega’s own Negative Energy Ball attack into positive energy, Gogeta literally blasts the Dragon Balls out of Omega Shenron. Reverting back into his Syn Shenron form Omega is all but done, Gogeta readies another blast to finish the job when suddenly, he diffuses back into Goku and Vegeta. Gogeta possessed so much power that the supposedly thirty minutes fusion became a mere ten. The hair coloring here is noteworthy, with each strand starting out dark at the root and becoming lighter the longer the hair gets. Gogeta’s tail is also textured well, much like his arms and clothes.

About Super Saiyan 4 (SSJ4) Gogeta

Appearing in Dragon Ball GT, Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta is the fusion of Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta. A mix of both personalities, Gogeta has two simultaneous voices and personality traits of both Saiyans.

Background

All seven dark dragon balls absorbed, Omega Shenron proved impossible to beat, even for the Super Saiyan 4 duo Goku and Vegeta. The only way for them to prevail against the dark dragon threat was to swallow their pride and utilize the metamoran fusion dance, embarrassing dance and all.

Special Abilities

Almost unfathomable power increases come with the fusion of two Super Saiyan 4 fighters. Retaining all of Goka and Vegeta’s attacks, Gogeta sometimes mixes them and creates original attacks. Big Bang Attack and Kamehameha make the Big Bang Kamehameha, possibly the strongest attack used by any fighter in the series up until that point.

Other Important Dragon Ball GT Characters

The most important characters for the birth of Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta are both the enemy who made it necessary and the fusion itself.

Omega Shenron

Syn Shenron was a tough opponent but after absorbing all of the dark dragon balls and becoming Omega Shenron, Goku and Vegeta were pushed to their limits and found to be no match for the tyrannical shadow dragon. With a little helping distraction from the Z-Warriors of Earth, Goku and Vegeta managed to pull off the difficult and awkward metamoran fusion dance to fuse into the mighty Gogeta.

Gogeta

Gogeta is the metamoran fusion of Goku and Vegeta (as opposed to the Potara fusion Vegito). He shares both Goku and Vegeta’s personalities and techniques. First appearing in the Dragon Ball Z movie Fusion Reborn, Goku and Vegeta face off against the evil Janemba with no luck until they attempt the fusion dance. First, they fail, however creating Vekku, the fat version of Gogeta. After another attempt, they manage the ritual successfully and put an end to the nightmare of Janemba. Gogeta remained non-canon until 2018’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
