OtapediaTrunks Dragon Ball Z - Figures

Among the huge cast of Dragon Ball Z characters, Trunks is one of the most popular and critically praised due to his unique story role. Future Trunks takes most of that fame as the first appearance in the series. However, knowing the fate of his timeline makes the slightly spoiled, pompous child of the present more endearing. Nonetheless, Trunks is cool. Future Trunks is literally an apocalyptic survivor. That air of toughness and awesomeness earns him his spot as a fan favorite and highly demanded action figure subject. Here are three of the best and coolest Trunks figures available: “S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball XenoVerse Trunks Xenoverse Edition,” “Dragon Ball Super Super Master Stars Diorama II Vegeta Trunks The Brush II,” and “Dragon Ball Super DXF The Super Warriors Vol. 1 Future Trunks.”

Dragon Ball XenoVerse Trunks Xenoverse Edition (S.H. Figuarts) Figure

This S.H. Figuarts figure from Bandai shows Trunks as he appears in the Xenoverse spinoff game. The interchangeable head allows for fans to switch between his normal and Super Saiyan forms. Fans can pair his Super Saiyan head with a ferocious attack face or determined scowl. An accompanying action pose or staunch stance with sword in hand completes the mood of any figure. The articulation doesn’t take away from the craftsmanship in the sculpting. Particularly, the detail on the strap of Trunks’ scabbard has a realistic softness despite the figure’s dynamic posing. Even the leather-like finish of the gloves remains consistent among all of the hand types.

Dragon Ball Super Super Master Stars Diorama II Vegeta Trunks The Brush II Figure

This boldly colorful diorama from Banpresto stands out from the usual Dragon Ball figure. Vegeta and Trunks stand side-by-side shooting off a vividly purple and magenta wave of energy. Though not a scale figure, the height difference between father and son is faithfully replicated. The color palette dominates this diorama, but the vibrant scheme doesn’t detract from fine details as seen in the teal dragon scales and the stretchy spandex texture of Vegeta’s suit. Fans are amazed at the quality of the painting and brushwork, often not found in figures under $100. While there are other color variants of this diorama out there, the contrast of deep pink and yellow Super Saiyan hair cannot be beaten.

Product Name: Dragon Ball Super Super Master Stars Diorama II Vegeta & Trunks - The Brush II
Manufacturer: Banpresto
Specifications: Set of 2 painted, non-articulated, non-scale figures with stand
Height (Approx.): 180mm | 7.1”

Dragon Ball Super DXF The Super Warriors Vol. 1 Future Trunks Figure

This serious and rough-hewn Future Trunks figure takes its design from Dragon Ball Super. Trunks has inherited his mother’s iconic teal hair color in this version, which contrasts nicely with his bright red bandana. The details on this figure emphasize the struggle Future Trunks endured, from obvious cues like the rip on his pants and jacket to the detailed painting of dirt and wear on his yellow boots. Light hatching creases on his face add to his worn expression, hardened from the grave future timeline.

Product Name: Dragon Ball Super DXF - The Super Warriors Vol. 1: Future Trunks
Manufacturer: Banpresto
Specifications: Painted, non-articulated, non-scale figures with base
Height (Approx.): 17cm | 6.7”

About Trunks

Trunks first appears in Chapter 331 of the Dragon Ball manga. At first, he is a mysterious figure who traveled back in time to warn Goku and the others of a dangerous enemy. Eventually, he’s revealed to be the half-Human, half-Saiyan son of Bulma and Vegeta. His appearances in the series are known as Future Trunks, the older version who time-traveled to the present, and Present Trunks, the child version of the new timeline created after Future Trunks’ arrival. The two iterations have wildly different personalities due to the different environments they grew up in. Eventually, Present Trunks matures and develops a more serious demeanor like his future counterpart. As a whole, Trunks is one of the most popular characters in the Dragon Ball franchise.

Other Important Dragon Ball Characters

Vegeta is the prince of an alien warrior race known as Saiyans. He first came to Earth looking for the legendary dragon balls to gain immortality. Although Vegeta started as a series antagonist, he eventually changes to anti-hero and then hero as he remains on earth. Vegeta is arrogant, cold-hearted, yet extremely hardworking. He often experiences rage due to his loss to Goku and thus feels inferior. He is obsessed with becoming the strongest Saiyan fighter. After Future Trunks arrives, Vegeta and Bulma marry and over time Vegeta learns to become a father and husband as well as a stronger fighter.

Bulma appeared in the first chapter of the Dragon Ball manga as a teenage scientist searching for the dragon balls. She recruits the ultra-strong child Goku as her bodyguard on her journey and in return teaches Goku about the world. Not only the daughter of brilliant scientists, but Bulma is also a genius inventor herself. Her high intelligence matches her level of vanity, as Bulma is incredibly concerned with her appearance, which changes frequently throughout the series. Her inventions play a large part in the storyline, as she invented the time travel machine that allowed Future Trunks to go to the past.
