Ouran High School Host Club - Figures
Despite only airing one full season in 2006, fans are still holding out hope for a second season of Ouran High School Host Club. The manga’s completion in 2010 showed the fate of the beloved Host Club members, but many won’t be satisfied until seeing those endings on screen. Such a short-lived shoujo series has had a large impact on fans, as it continues to outrank newer competitors every year. Along with holding out for a season two, fans are desperate for more official merchandise. The figure selection is limited, but almost always out of stock. If lucky enough to find them in stock, the three must-have figures for this series are the Pop! Animation series Kyoya, Tamaki, and Haruhi. And for those who want to collect them all, Pop! Ouran High School Host Club Series 1 - Kyoya (Pop! Animation) Figure
The Host Club vice-president and shadow king, Kyoya Ootori, shows his business hours face in this figure. His outstretched arm welcomes guests into the Host Club, and while the figure is mouthless, fans can picture his calculated pleasant smile. Tucked in close to his body, Kyoya keeps his infamous black book full of future Host Club plans, guest information, and blackmail on the club’s other members. As Kyoya would prefer, his uniform is neat and orderly, as is his hair, and his glasses remain firmly on his face. The chibi style of the figure lets fans experience the cuteness Kyoya shows to paying customers. Sadly, or maybe thankfully, the single expression saves fans from the sleep-deprived demon Kyoya featured in his Reluctant Day Off.

Ouran High School Host Club Series 1 - Tamaki (Pop! Animation) Figure
The rounded, chibi style of the Pop! figure captures the innocent charm of Host Club king Tamaki Suoh. An outstretched, red rose calls back to his suave, lady-killing demeanor. However, the round, cartoonish eyes remind fans of Tamaki’s powerful puppy-dog expression that gets the rest of the Host Club in many outrageous situations. With both the rose and hand to his chest, Tamaki appears to be in the middle of a bold declaration of love. Whether warmly received by a Host Club guest or shot down by Haruhi, it’s Tamaki’s most natural pose.

Ouran High School Host Club Series 1 - Haruhi (Pop! Animation) Figure
This figure shows the series protagonist, Haruhi Fujioka, in her everyday school uniform--and her daily disguise as a male student. As she states in the series, Haruhi doesn’t mind being perceived as a boy or a girl--it’s what’s inside that counts. And this Pop! Animation figure captures her iconic appearance as a male host. Like the male members of the Host Club point out, it’s hard to imagine Haruhi’s sloppy appearance in the anime’s opening scenes after seeing her makeover. Haruhi’s chibi figure shows her with a relaxed stance and hand on her hip, completely at ease as a natural host. Sadly for Lobelia Academy, Haruhi belongs in the Ouran Academy Uniform, male or female.

Ouran High School Host Club Series 1 - Complete Set (Pop! Animation)
With how small and adorable these figures are, it’s easy to see them as inseparable as the trio in the series. As mentioned earlier, each figure captures the personality of the characters individually. But together, Tamaki’s flashy dramatics, Kyoya’s cool demeanor, and Haruhi’s calm reluctance play off of each other. Moreover, having the full set available together makes it easier to imagine the antics of the Host Club. Eventually, the rest of the gang may come into production. In that case, having the Host Club king, analytical shadow king, and natural star together is the perfect way to begin a larger collection.

Ouran High School Host Club Series Story
Haruhi Fujioka starts high school as a scholarship student at the elite Ouran Academy for the children of the ultra-rich. When looking for a quiet place to study, Haruhi stumbles upon a group of boys calling themselves the school’s Host Club. After a mishap with an expensive vase, Haruhi is indebted to the Host Club and begins work as their servant. Eventually, the club members note Haruhi’s natural charm, looks, and talent with the female clientele. Haruhi is thus promoted from servant to host with one minor snag: she’s secretly a girl. Can the Host Club keep Haruhi’s secret so she can stay in the club? And perhaps more difficult: can they do it without falling in love with her?
Ouran High School Host Club Series Development
Written and illustrated by Bisco Hatori, Ouran High School Host Club ran in LaLa Magazine from 2002 until 2010. The serialized chapters have been compiled into 18 volumes, released abroad under Viz Media, Madman Entertainment, and Chuang Yi. In 2006, Ouran received a 26 episode anime series produced by Studio Bones, airing on Nippon TV. The anime remains well-loved by fans despite ending before the manga’s final story arcs in part due to the performances of voice actors Mamoru Miyano and Maaya Sakamoto. After the conclusion of the manga, both a live-action television drama and film aired in Japan in 2011 and 2012 respectively. In 2020, there is still no news of a reboot or series continuation of the anime, though fans remain hopeful given the success of another popular shojo reboot, Fruits Basket.
