To Love Ru - Figures
To Love Ru is a classic slapstick harem comedy complete with a hapless protagonist and a bunch of pretty girls who are in love with them. The science fiction twist gives the series greater character flexibility in the spirit of fellow harem series Tenchi Muyo. The ever-growing female cast the series produced inspired many bishoujo and fantasy concept figures. Particularly, the series sequel To Love-Ru Darkness contains the most popular characters in the canon, making up the majority of available figures. Here are three figures of To Love-Ru’s most popular girls: “Nendoroid To Love-Ru Darkness Golden Darkness,” “To Love-Ru Darkness Momo Belia Deviluke 1/6 Scale Figure,” and “To Love-Ru Darkness Mikan Yuuki 1/6 Scale Figure Re-Run.”
Nendoroid To Love-Ru Darkness Golden Darkness Figure
The child-like former assassin Golden Darkness, or simply Yami, gets a chibi figure in Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid line. She wears her signature black leather gothic dress. All the buckles and straps have been carefully recreated along with the bat wing-style hem on the skirting. The figure includes three expressions. The first is a calm smile, the second a blank, glazed over expressions, and the third is an angry and embarrassed pout. She comes with two hair pieces, one with her usual style and the other forming a barrage of fists. Accessories include Yami’s favorite food, taiyaki, which has been delicately sculpted to resemble the real-life snack. The taiyaki includes a bag for more snacks. Also in line with her character in the anime and manga, she comes with a book to carry with her.

To Love-Ru Darkness Momo Belia Deviluke 1/6 Scale Figure
From Wanderer comes an exceptionally detailed scale figure of the “harem plan” mastermind Momo Belia Deviluke. Momo stands in a cute pose, her feet turned inward and left knee slightly raised holding a green soft drink near her face. Her playful smile conveys her cunning, devilish intent, masked by her adorable appeal. The figure’s most impressive detail is the translucent form-fitting dress. The fabric seems to stick to her body, with carving details folding and gathering in flat areas as if wet. Underneath the viewer can see her belly button as well as a pair of black and pink lacy underwear. The base of her tail is visible just above her panties before curling up by her shoulders. The gradient painting on the tail adds dimension as well as the glass bottle effect on her drink. Her right dress strap also slips down off her shoulder for extra cheeky detail.

To Love-Ru Darkness Mikan Yuuki 1/6 Scale Figure Re-Run
Rito’s mature little sister, Mikan, gets a suggestive figure in this scale sculpture by Pulchra. Mikan sits on the floor with her legs bent out on both sides. She leans forward and slightly to the right, resting her weight on her hands. She looks to the left with an innocent, curious expression. She wears her school gym uniform, with short swimsuit-like navy bottoms and a white and blue shirt. The clothing features carving details showing the folds in her shirt as excess fabric gathers near her hips. The stretch of her pose is also shown in the painting detail of highlight and shadow on the shorts. She has a light blush on her face framed by her trademark bangs and forelocks. Her messy ponytail includes her spiky fringe at the top as well as her flowing locks, held back by a pink beaded hairband.

To Love Ru Series Story
To Love Ru is a harem series focusing on the accidental betrothal of kindhearted high school student Rito Yuuki. One day in the tub, Rito suddenly meets Lala, a runaway princess devil-girl who manifests next to him completely naked. When forces from her planet come to retrieve her, Lala declares her plans to marry Rito in order to avoid her planned engagement. Rito tries to diffuse the situation, saying one should only marry out of love. Lala and her pursuer misunderstand this as a confession and she quickly falls in love with him. The news is accepted on Lala’s home planet and Rito reluctantly accepts her in his life, helping her adjust to Earth’s customs. Throughout the series, he grows closer to more beautiful women, alien and human, including his long time crush Haruna. His growing attachments and conflicting feelings prove that matters of love only mean trouble.
To Love Ru Series Development
The first To Love Ru manga was written by Saki Hasemi and illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki. It ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from April 2006 until August 2009. The name of the series is a pun. In Japanese, the characters are written out “ToRaBuRu” using the borrowed word “rabu” for “love.” The entire phrase read aloud also sounds like the borrowed word for “trouble,” hence the play on love equals trouble. Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the series became a commercial success. Two anime series produced by Studio Xebec correspond to the two manga series. The first aired from April to September 2008 with a second season, Motto To Love-Ru, in 2010. The series, To Love-Ru Darkness, aired in 2012 and 2015.
