Predator Series Story

The entire Predator series focuses on a series of encounters between humanity and the Predators. The Predators are a hostile extraterrestrial species, their main focus on trophy hunting. The different films feature humanity’s encounters with the creatures across time and different locations. The recurring plot includes mercenaries and corporations that seek to dispel the threat of the Predators. They track and pursue them, seeking to either capture them for scientific purposes or eliminate them to prevent them from killing humans.

Predator Series Development

The Predator series began all the way back in 1987 with the classic film bearing the same name. Predator was director John McTiernan’s first studio film as a director, but it took the world by storm. The design of the Predator is credited to special effects artist, Stan Winston. Winston was able to get some of his inspiration from James Cameron, who he was flying to Japan with. Winston was doing some concept art for the Predator when Cameron said that he’d “always wanted to see something with mandibles”. Winston then took inspiration and included mandibles into the design of the Predator. The film itself was a resounding success, grossing more than $98 million at the Box office as of today.
